Gettin' there
Oct 29, 2007
Well, as you can see, I haven't been real good at documenting my journey. Had my surgery on May 15th - went real well. The first few months were kinda tough. Lots of mental "stuff" going on (feeling sorry for myself that I couldn't binge anymore, etc.). I also had many bouts of foamies. I know EXACTLY the cause and when I stopped eating more that I should and eating at a record pace, the foamies stopped.
My weight loss has been really pretty easy. I know this is the honeymoon stage and I've definately been kickin' back and enjoying the ride. As of this morning, I've lost 83 pounds since my highest and 77 pounds since surgery.
I do not regret having my surgery. I feel SOOO much better about myself and I can't believe this is me sometimes. My only concern is gaining the weight back. I worry about it all the time. Guess we'll see how my body reacts when I get there, huh? Thanks for readin'!!

Approved!!

I called the insurance company to find out how my precertification was coming along. The gal told me 2 to 3 weeks before I would know. Well, ya know, I'm just not a patient person. So, the next day, I called back. I got a different person and I asked how my precert was coming. She checked the computer and said that I was approved. So much for two to three weeks. I'm glad I called!!
So, I then called the surgeon and we confirmed my surgery date of 05/15/2007. Two weeks prior to surgery, I have to go on Adkins to shrink my liver. I'm really excited, scared, happy and nervous all at the same time. Kinda makes your stomach do flips!

Went to the Doctor's office yesterday. Started out with an EKG, then went to the lab and got my blood tested, went to physical therapy where they tested my blood pressure and heartrate before and after 10 minutes on the treadmill. I then met with the dietician to go over the post op diet and then met with the Program Director to go over the risks and benefits. An hour later, I was at the Psych Eval. He said I was good to go and told me good luck with my surgery. Donna (the program director) said she would FAX my paperwork in (hopefully) by the end of the week. She told me to give the insurance a week and then we can start calling them. Yay! Getting closer...
The journey begins...

04/10/07 - Well, I went to a Dr. in Greeley, CO. on 03/12 and that was a total waste of a day. The doctor was great but he wanted to give me the lapband and wouldn't do the RNY (I live too far away). So, I rescheduled with another doctor. I go to Dr. Dennis Lewis in Riverton on April 18th for the mtg with the nurse, doctor, dietician, physical therapist, and psych.
Also, I met with my PCP today and he supports my decision. He gave me a support letter to take with me to the surgeons office. Finally, we are going somewhere!
