Hi I am Janis, I live in Cashmere. I am interested in setting up a support group for pre and post op WLS patients in the valley, you would be a welcome addition if you would like to join me and my Sis. I am in the process of trying to get in touch with all the WLS patients in the area to see what kind of interest there might be out there. Do you know of anyone who is considering WLS or is Post Op who might be interested in a local support group? I envision in addition to the moral support and encouragement the opportunity to sample all the bariatric food and supplement products at the group meetings. My sisters biggest post op complaint was finding palatable high protein supplements and vitamins that were actually effective. I also envision the opportunity to compare notes on Doctors who are not only educated in caring for bariatric patients in the long term but also who truly understand what we endure as morbidly obese persons, the prejudice, the mis-conceptions, the ignorance. And who are supportive of bariatric surgery for those people who really do need it. I would like to be able to direct prospective WLS patients to Doctors, Psychologists, Nutritionists, etc who are knowledgeable, skilled, empathetic and supportive of our needs in our quest for healthier bodies and happier lives. I look forward to hearing from you. Janis Hayden janden_1@juno.com

Hi, Now you are getting excited, nervous, and maybe even a little scared. All those feelings are normal. You are about to begin one of the most fantastic journey's of your life. Weight loss is a given, but the things that you will discover that never occurred to you pre-op, will astound you. I was going to list some, but the fun is in experiencing them for yourself. If you don't already know, the message board is a God send to all of us. The most wonderful support system imaginable. You are never alone in this journey because we have one another for help along the way. My thoughts and prayers will be with you in the days and months to come. Know at all times there is someone who cares about you, because we've been there and we understand. Have a wonderful journey, and enjoy those first steps! Blessed be, V
