Hadar Spivak

"very proffesional, calm, mild mannered, super smart. During his seminar he seemed to favor gastric bypass, which was disappointing, I guess it was more of "He didn't say what I wanted him to say." Which now I realize he was just being realistic. My first visit with him was great, he spent alot of time with me, I never felt rushed, was able to ask all of my questions, I got the feeling that if I would have needed to talk with him for 45minutes, he would have. He gave me a research article after I asked him about some technical q's about the band placement. I am glad he participates in research, this was another big plus. He has also done over 800 bands. At my initial appointment he was doing the surgery at Park Plaza Hospital, I have heard of this one. :-) His staff is very responsive and professional. They kept me informed of the process, mostly anyway, "we'll submit the paper work at this time, you should hear something by this time, etc" They followed up with me when my insurance company called them about something. However, they failed to tell me that I had been approved, my insurance notified them first, I found out a week later. I called his office to tell them and they knew already. I have also heard that his staff sometimes will tell you something and the surgicenter tells you another. This will be frustrating, I know, for me. Dr. Spivak routinely prescribes pain killers post op, and this was important. He also will give you a nausea patch post op. I was also told he gives a local anesthestic at your port placement for more pain relief, the local will wear off but at least It will be one less thing to complain about, initially. "
