I haven't updated in awhile, so this will be a long one.

I was approved and had a date set to have the RNY. I was uncomfortable with the surgeon. I felt like I was being moved like cattle through the process. I like to eat cattle, not be treated like cattle. Anyway, I was also uncomfortable with the surgery itself. It didn't feel right. I couldn't go through with it. I took a hard look at myself, my eating habits, my fears, and what I could and could not live with. I ended up seeing another surgeon and choosing the DS. I am a self pay. My insurance will pay for one type of surgery. So much for choices.

So, I have done all the pre op testing. I have had my pre op appt. I am set to have surgery on Dec 5. It's coming up quick and I'm scared. But I can't live like this anymore. I am considered a lightweight, but have many co-morbidities. I am no longer active. My life is slipping away. I'm too young not to be out in the world, doing things I enjoy. My family life is suffering as well. This is not fair to my children. So I must get my courage up and go for it.

August 20, 2007- Needed weight gained!!

Ok, so I needed to gain 2 lbs in order to qualify for my insurance. Went back today, and I got the job done! After Dr. Barker dictates the report, they will file with insurance. Hopefully, I'll be approved! I also did my cardiac stress test today. Everything is normal and I'm cleared for surgery. After insurance approval, I will need to do psych eval and nut appt. I am scheduled for EGD on Sept. 10.

August 14, 2007- 1st consultation

Well I had my first appointment with Dr. Barker today. Everything went fine. I need to gain 2 lbs in order to be officially 100 lbs over and meet insurance requirements. They go by the middle of the scale and not the low end . I have scheduled my stress test on 08/20/07 and my EGD on 09/10/2007. I will need to do another weigh in, in about a week. I won't be having my surgery until 10/22/2007. He only does surgery at the hospital that takes my insurance once a month... so the wait is on!

I'm just starting my journey. I've been considering bypass surgery for the last 5 years. I've finally decided to have the surgery and improve my quality of life.
