Many of you know me mostly as Gus's wife, which is a large part of who I am and  I am very proud of that title.  But for those who truely have gotten the opportunity to know me, will realize there is so much more behind the title and smile of a quiet individual.  I was raised to be one of confidence and not to see others exteriors as who they are, but for what they hold inside.  Therefore, being heavy since I was a child never truley laid an heavy burden on me, for I had seen no difference in my way of being compared to my thinner friends.  It was not till high school when the dating scene was more visible and I noticed that having all my guy friends around was not the same as the one or two special guys I wanted to get to know... were not even looking my way.  I had a huge social life in school  and never felt left out, but of course when it came to having those drama high school boyfriends, well.....there was very few.

As I began college and began to date, I had up many walls and maybe lost out on a few relationships I could have grown and learned from, but the weight issue was behind it.
I met Gus in 1994 at work and the first year I admired from afar, until that one rainy day (a year later) he asked me to go somewhere with him.  People laugh when I tell them that Ifell slightly in love the first day I met him and that first day he thought I was a SNOB because I was so quiet.  Therefore, it took a year for him to show any interest what so ever.

As the story goes on, we were engaged on Valentines day 2002 and married in March 2003. Gus has shown me the world by travel and has taught me many ways of the world I was sheltered from.  I love this man and I am so fortunate he is part of my life.  Along with Gus came the love of food....for both of us. I must say we ate very well during our dating period and it certainly continued with marriage.  Our mothers are awesome cooks and we both have huge families with huge appetites!!  Needless to say, our love bloomed and so did our bodies. LOL!!!!

WLS was an interest of Gus first.  So many of you know his story and have seen his amazing progress.  With his WLS in 2006, I watched, listened and learned and made the decision for my self that I was finally ready for WLS.  My surgery was on 04-30-07.  It has been an amazing journey so far.

As the same for many of you, I tried so many other diets and ways to lose weight and it always came back.  This tool is a blessing and I pray to God everyday that he continues to give me the guidance to use this tool and not abuse it.  I have met many friends through WLS and OH that are amazing and so encouraging.  I look forward to 2008, with a new healthier body and new adventures with my amazing husband.
