I'm 42 & sick of being overweight & dieting only to gain more back. I would like to meet people like me, in this area that are also looking to have surgery. My lap-rny is scheduled for July 1st .!!! Will cost me around 20K.(kruddy insurance)..the down side.
My husband wasn't suportive at first, he sees it as a sign of weakness & I've given up trying to learn self-control (this coming from a tri-athalete) HA! 6/3/02 One More Month...Yeah!!
6/27/02 I just finished my psyc evaluation, now it's all down hill!!! I'm ready!! 5 more days!!! Will July 1st ever get here?
7/6/02 YIPEE!!! It's all behind me. Surgery went really well, took the doc 3 hrs though, very little pain, short (2& 1/2day) hospital stay.Doing without something to drink for 36 hrs after surgery was the hardest part. I've been staying at MOMs for a few days,getting pampered. Today I am going home, I'm ready to deal with kids & dogs...I think. The day I was discharged I went to work for a few minutes, then July 5 (4 days out)I went in for a few hours. Monday I will return to work part-time for another week.
9/1/02 2 months and down 30 lbs.... seem to be at a plateau, but 225 is way better than 255, just 30 lbs and I'm feeling better.
10/1/02 I weighed 213 this morning...can't get enough protien in, and have been losing hair for 2 months now. Still I would do it all over again, I feel really good!
11/1/02 50 pounds gone finally (4 months)....my weight loss seems to be alot slower than others, and now I am on another plateau, still losing hair but I dont regret having surgery.
12/1/02 5 months after surgery and I've lost 60 lbs. I weigh 195 and am doing great...
2/14/03 Valentines Day and a contented husband have I!! I
weigh 177 today and feel fine! A little sublingual B-12 did the trick. No more hair loss, and I really didn't go bald!
4/20/03 I weigh 168 now, my loss is really slowing but I am so glad I'm this far...I dont know if I should take my husbands new found attention as a compliment or an insult!
7/4/03 Finally 1 year has passed, and I'm now 99 lbs less !!! I weigh 157 and feel so much better about myself...If I dont lose another pound that is fine with me !!
11/11/03 I've been at 148 for quite some time now...my surgeon says its time for a tummy-tuck, so I'm scheduled for Dec 2 2003...I'll be home for 2 weeks. I'm ready, this is quite a trip for me. I didnt know how big of a change being "normal" would be!
11/5/04 My weight is 148. I've had my tummy tuck and a breast lift also put 5 pounds back on from my lowest weight oops! I still live to eat! Seem to be coasting along well except occasionial bouts of nighttime naseua(chocolate & wine).
7/7/05 I weigh 158 I'm 3 years out now and my weight is creeping just a little...but if I focus on eating meats and drinking water and walking, swimming or biking regularly it can be kept under control. I am happy, healthy, and if I dont eat too much chocolate or drink more than 1 glass of wine I dont suffer the middle of the night nausea I used to get. Then theres always Zantac when I'm very bad!
11/2/07 184 lbs... they said you'd gain it back if you dont change your food preferences, and I'm a shining example! I am currently on HMR's 3 week blitz to lose a few lbs by Thanksgiving. I am in a size 16 and would prefer a 14 for the Holidays. Continuing to take the vitamines regularly has been difficult, as my weight increases I feel so "normal".
7/2/2009 7 year anniversary! Doing pretty good I think; haven't gained it all back anyway.

I had my initial consult...Dr Bolar is wonderful! He has massive experience & is very confident about his surgical skills. He also attended a Support Group meeting , and has a good sense of humor. I like him.
