Butterflys are a great symbol of WLS patients. Like the caterpillar, we move slowly. We are not particularly attractive - and most of us are a bit round. Soon, we enter the cocoon stage, where we hide from everyone and everything, and EAT and SLEEP. Then, when the time is right, we emerge from the cocoon, spread our wings, and when they are dry, we fly off, seeking summer flowers. I love the analogy, and can't think of a thing that is better. So, first the butterflies in your stomach, and in your thoughts - pretty soon, you will have them in your heart, and you will be so proud of yourself, and feeling darn good, too!" Best of luck. Christie, I was just reading your update and it brought tears to my eyes. We all KNOW exactly how you are feeling right now. We too had a lot of feelings of "what if" and a fear of dieing from the surgery. It's all normal. However, know that there are others out here keeping you in their prayers and asking God to see you through a healthy recovery. Only good can happen from here on. I personnaly...will ask God to give you peace through these next couple of days! Have faith in the power of prayer and KNOW that you are going to come out of this just fine!
