I've been overweight since birth basically. I've been on a diet every 2 years since the age of 10. Luckily when I was younger I played sports so that helped my weight stay at a reasonable level but I was still overweight. Once I went off to college I had the freshman 80 lbs instead of the usual fresman 15. In the past 8 years I've lost 70-80 twice and then gained it right back. I do enjoy working out but it is almost impossible since even walking causes me back and knee pain. I've always thought that gastric by pass might be an option for me but last summer I had a moment that set my mind towards doing the surgery. I was sitting outside on a super hot day with my family. I was sweating so much but no one else was. It was like I had run a marathon or something I was sweating so much. It was just one of those moments that I thought I can't live like this anymore and have to do something. I did a lot of research on the surgery and I spoke with people that have had the surgery. At first I really still thought I could do it without the surgery but I feel that I was born with a tendancy to be overweight and this surgery will provide me with the tool to overcome that.
