On Friday July 12, 2012, I celebrated my 11 years of being post-op from gastric bypass. It's so hard to believe it's been 11 years. :) I've not posted anything on this site since 2006 and since I've hit this milestone I thought it'd be nice to post. When I started my journey I weight almost 280 pounds but gained close to 10 pounds before my surgery. I have lost almost 150 pounds, gained, lost, etc. over the years. I'm currently at 165 and for the most part am completely satisfied; although, I could probably stand to lose 10 lbs. I've gone from an uncertainty of obesity related medical problems to other problems that have stemmed from the gastric bypass. There are times when I second guess my decision but I know I would not have the life I have now had I opted to not have the surgery. Dr. DiMarco saved my life 11 years ago (and he and his collegues again saved my life in 2006) and I will be forever grateful! For those who followed my story back in 2001, here's the update on my life. I have 5 beautiful children, 6 gorgeous grandchildren and an amazing boyfriend. I've never been happier in my entire life :)
