Pre-Op Went well

I went for my pre-op appointment on Wednesday. It went great! Cleared for surgery on May 13th. I was so happy to have the nutrional class that explained a lot of my questions about protein and what foods to eat after surgery. I have been testing the protien shakes, not liking the ones I tried so far. Hopefully I will find something before surgery to stock up on. I am excited and actually am not nervous at all.

The beginning process

I would say about 2 1/2 years ago I started to think about weight loss surgery. I talked to my pcp and she subscribe Meridia. It seemed to work for a while, I lost about 30 lbs, was exercising a lot and really trying to controll what I ate. Eventually I stopped using Meridia and the weight starting coming back... My insurance switched in Jan/08 so I had to get new Drs and they were not that crazy about WLS, but started to find out what was required through that insurance.. started going each month to my new pcp... had sleep apnea test and pulmanary function test... was considering lap band at the time... it got to be close to the end of the year and my doctor was not really supportive and I knew my insurance was changing again in January and I was going back to my original PCP. I decided to wait until January of 09 to start the process again. This time, it is going a lot smoother... my PCP is very supportive. I went to the Barix Clinic Consultation. Found out I needed a letter from my PCP and a Phsyc evaulation. I decided to go with Roux-en-Y instead of Lap Band... Got my letter from my PCP and had my Phsyc eval (I'm not crazy) submitted everything to the clinic, the insurance approved the surgery... next my file went for surgeon's approval... got that.. then they call me with how much I have to pay.... The next step which I am at now is waiting for them to call with surgery dates....
It is exciting but yet scary at the same time...
