Hi, my name is John I am 39 yrs old from Billerica Mass.
I was 350 lbs back in Sept of 08 and not doing so well .
I had sleep apnea , gerd , borderline high cholesterol. I
could not walk for more than a few mins and could not
do anything with my family because of my weight . I
was in fact dying inside physically and mentally. I have
spent all of my life overweight and have spent about
the last 2 yrs thinking about surgery . I was terrified
but finally hit rock bottom and said to myself it is either
surgery or death and i chose surgery . i had to
lose 40 lbs before i could get a scheduled date for
surgery so I set my mind to it and finally did it through
diet and exercise . I was then given a surgery date of
November 6Th 2008. I went into the hospital on the 6Th
after saying good by to all my loved ones . I just knew in
my mind i was going to die during surgery because of
my fear . well it is now Feb 2009 i am down from 350 lbs
to 234 lbs that is a whopping 116 lb loss. I feel like a new
person I was in a size 44-46 waist back in November
and size 4x and 5 x shirts now the new me is in a size 34
waist and large shirts . I am still losing weight and hope
to get under 200 lbs before my birthday in July . This was
the best thing I ever did and because I decided to do it
I have a new lease on life and will never be fat again .
Thanks to all at my support group meetings and all the
staff at lahey and most of all my family . You all saved
my life and I will forever be grateful to everyone .
