Hello,
My name is Tom and I live in NE Philadelphia and I started off weighing 276 and since I was about to be a father I wanted to make sure that I would be able to play with my daughter and chase her around once she starts to walk.
Mia was born on August 25th 2007 and at that time I was 276lbs. So I got a chance to see what it was like to have to bend over and pick her up and carry her and all the fun things that come with being a dad. I got my surgery on April 23rd 2008 and since my weight lose my belly does not get in the way when I bend over to pick her up, I am more active and not so easily out of breath.
I can reach down now and tie my sneaks instead of putting my foot up on a step or coffee table.
This surgery has made my life so much easier. I have to admit, at first it was hard being around food but now its no big deal..
I got my surgery April 23rd and was releases from the hospital on April 26th and April 29th I was at my Brother-in-laws for his birthday party and they were cooking chicken burgers, hot dogs and ribs and it was pretty hard to be there so I went down to the basement. I did not want to be unsocial so I have gone to all the bar b q's and dinner's.
It has gotten easier to eat now, It just took sometime for my stomach to heal.
I am now down to 199lbs and people are just amazed as I am, It took me a while to get use to wearing smaller size clothes. I just started shopping 2 weeks ago for new work pants and a few t shirts and a new pair of Jeans..
Its funny because I took a 2x shirt in the dressing room with me and 2 xl shirts and since I am use to wearing the large size I was trying to get my wife to say yeah the 2x looks good but she wasn't having that so I asked the dude standing there and he said the XL is the right fit.
I have also noticed that I do have more energy and I have been doing a lot more around the house as in Cleaning up the back yard, painting some window sills, power washing, cutting old boards and 2x4's that were just sitting around in the yard.. I did all this on Sunday 8-24-08.. I was still ready to go but I had to go to dinner at my in-laws..
I just want to say that I would do it all over again...
