Well my surgery was over a month ago!!
May 18, 2007
The weight is coming off very slowly. I east regular food, small portions, no salt, and I exercise every other day. As of this morning I'm down 40lbs. I'm happy with that. My energy level has increased and life is good. My first fill is scheduled for June 4th. I"m both excited and scared.
1 week post op!!!

Wow I can hardly believe it's been 7 days since my surgery. I think things have been going somewhat smoothly. I don't really have any abdominal pain except if I twist or stretch the wrong way. The gas has finally become managable. My only complaint is the pain I have in my legs and butt.
I went to see Dr. Geiss today (unscheduled visit) and he ordered a doppler study of both my legs to r/o any clots. Thankfully it was negative but if I walk any distance it starts to feel like I have gravel grinding in my hip joints, something I've never had before. I swear its from the hospital bed. Oh my god...the worst bed I've ever slept on in my life. How can they put fat people on beds that DEFLATE when you sit or lie on them? We tried everything to keep the bed inflated but nothing worked and I'm left with very sore hips and buttocks.
Oh well...if thats the worst thing I'm suffering, then I'm blessed and should shut up. : )
It's becoming hard to stick with the liquid diet only because after awhile you really run out of different things to drink. It's so boring! But I'm sticking to it : ( Ok...I'm cranky so I won't post anything more tonight. Ciao!

Sore, sore and sore! The surgery went well according to Drs Geiss and Hoffman and my pain is the result of the port placement. I'm truly glad it's over and all I have to do now is recover.
I can't imagine how anyone could go back to work...even to a desk job, in less than 2 weeks. I'm glad I'm taking 3 weeks.
So far all I'm taking in is water and clear broth. I tried apple juice and some jello....ohh a mistake. What pain and gas. I'm looking forward to much better days!

The night before surgery!

4/2/07 10:12PM Its the night before my surgery. The hospital called to tell me to be there at 5:45am and my surgery time is 7:00am. I'm so happy it's finally here. Tomorrow is my rebirth.
I've lost 21lbs pre-op. I have 113lbs to go! It's exhilarating.

I've been on Jenny Craig for 3 weeks and so far I've lost 16 lbs. I have also managed to increase my time on the treadmill from 12 mins to 20 mins.
My pulmonary doctor is sending me to a rehab gym 3 times a week for 8 weeks and I start that in 2 days from now. So I'm trying pretty hard to get in shape to have the lap band surgery. My date is still 4/3/07. I'm so excited! Oh...and I'm pretty scared also.
After next week I go on the liquid diet for one week. I'm already imagining how hungry I'm going to be.
Sometimes I have trouble picturing my life any different than it is right now and I wonder if anyone else had those same feelings before their surgery.
I have decided that at every 50lb junction I will reward myself with a vacation. Wow...am I getting ahead of myself or what?
