Doctor's appointment
Aug 22, 2007
Well I weighed yesterday 266 lbs. So that's a 38 lb. weight loss. He said since I have stress right now with my mother passing I should call when I'm ready for my 2nd fill. This one will be in an outpatient setting with fluro. The cost is $425.00 total since I'm a self pay. So I will wait till I'm ready to get a fill. I'm flying to Pan. next Thurs to meet with my sister and do some paper work for the attorney. Then driving my Mom's car back to South Carolina Sat. SO a quick trip with stress. I pray I'll know when to get a fill and not any sooner.
August 11,2007

Well I've lost 39 lbs. but that's not the only thing I lost. My Mother has passed away August 7, 2007 with me at her side. So this weight loss will be dedicated to her. This was one aspect of my life that she did support me on. She was so proud of me for having the lapband and taking control of my weight issue. I hope a year from now I can be close to goal or at least under 200 lbs. Mom, I miss you dearly and this is for you but most of all this is for ME................
I have a MD apointment Aug. 22 and should be ready for another (2nd) fill. Was going to have a fill but her illness came up and I said no way, better wait.
I also have another dog. His name is Benny and was my Mom's Dog. He's 7 years old and gets along with my 2 dogs.
I have eaten things I shouldn't have but will get a grip and back in control.
I love my husband who has supported me through all this-he's wonderful.
Wil post again after MD visit.

2 months post op
Jul 01, 2007
Well its 2 months post op and I feel great. I've lost 28 lbs. and ride my bike daily. I have more energy and seem to have good restriction. It's been 2.5 weeks since my first fill and have noticed I'm a little more tight then I am in the evenings. I go back to work tomorrow but I loved being off this time to larn how to eat, exercise and take some time for me. I've had wonderful support from my husband and friends. I am looking forward to getting another fill and stay on the losing side.
Had surgery May 1
May 12, 2007
Well I had surgery May 1 at Rivertown Surgery Center by dr. Balder. The people were great and I was in at 630am and leaving for home by 955am. I can't believe when I woke up and it was over I just thanked God for all his goodness.
I did have some pain for the first 2 days but by the 3rd day I didn't require anything for pain. I got up and moved around every couple of hours. Had protein shakes, ice, water for the first couple of days and really had no problems.
May 9th was my first doctor appointment and lost 14 lbs. since I first went to see Dr. alder on April 18th. I was amazed. He also told me I could start eating food. I looked suprised but he said it would be all right. Just go slow and chew. So thats what I have been doing. Even went out to dinner twice. I remember to chew, chew, chew. It WORKS....
Anyway I have my first fill June 6th and hope to return to work June 11. Since I am a RN and requirements are to lift at least 50lbs. I figured the time off would be useful to walk again as exercise, learn how to eat slow and chew and just to take care of myself.
My husband has been great support and took wonderful care of me. My family has been behind me 100% and with all the support freom them and a few friends I find myself smiling more and being proud of myself.
Will update as more time progresses.

insurance company
Mar 31, 2007
Hi, I've just become a member but have been overweight all my life. Now that I turned 50 I want to do something about my weight. I have researched over 3 years about what to do and what to try. Of course weight loss programs and medications were just some of the options I have tried for 25 years.
Anyway yesterday I called my insurance company-HCA Cigna Healthcare and for an hour they searched for information on who I could go to and what facility. Everything has to be done through and HCA facility and HCA Doctor. Nothing would come up in the network. SO after and hour the woman said she'd call me back. An hour later she did and her supervisor couldn't even fine anything. So she was getting in touch with HCA directly and trying to get a list of facilites and surgeons I can use. They will pay for 1 procedure a lifetime so I'd really like to go through my insurance company.
SO this is the beginning of me. Let me know if anyone has info on HCA facilities and HCA Surgeons.
Thanks, Sue
