My story with a weight problem began from my first pregnancy 1986 (22 years ago) I was 21 years old. Since, I've had two others gaining about 60+ lbs from that. Along the way picking up a drug addiction with crystal meth. I've been clean and sober now since 06/20/2003 and have traded one addiction for another my best friend FOOD. For some reason I told myself it was OK to gain the weight, at least I wasn't using anymore, and I would fight the FAT battle down the road. Five years and 80 lbs later there I was 286 lbs.
I was then diagnosed with diabetes in 2006 which scared me. I've tried Jenny Craig's, Nutri-systems, weight watchers with getting minimal results losing 10 lbs to gain back 12 lbs. I then was prescribed Metformin taking 1000mg X2 daily and decided my food problem was all in my head (the way I thought about food). So I ended up at Hypnosis which is really expensive about 100.00 a pop. I had six sessions and managed to lose 27 pounds. Now, was it the metformin or the hypnosis? (your guess is as good as mine)? There was no way I was going to continue with hypnosis at that price.
Then I thought to myself is it really all in my head, if it is, then why am I never full or really hungry? Yet I still eat no matter what.
So I decided to tell my PCP I need help with this... I've lost 27 pounds in 2007 it is slowly coming back on what about WLS?
He was dead set against it...... You need to exercise and cut back on your portions blah blah blah... Finally after about the third request I told him; I know how you feel about it, however I want to have a consult and I need you to refer me. Then the clock stared ticking 03/26/08 and finally 6 mos. later of course I gained back the 20lbs weighing 270 lbs my surgery date is 9/22/08.
10/20/08 I had my first fill and weighed 262 so I lost 8 lbs not bad I guess 2 lbs a week.
