Good Evening AMOS family - I am Sheila Roy's Aunt Carolyn and just wanted to let you all know that Sheila made it to the Losing Side with no problems. I spoke with her this morning and she sounded so wonderful it was truly unbelievable that she had surgery yesterday. She said she got to her room around 10:30 last night and she was up this morning at 5:30 am going for a walk. She went for her leak test also this morning and passed with flying colors. She said after surgery yesterday she only had to use her morphine pump a few times. She should be going home sometime tomorrow. Please e-mail her with your congratulations and best wishes. I'm sure she will be looking forward to reading them when she gets home. Sheila says HI to all the wonderful friends she has made through her journey and thanks for all your support. I am so proud of her, now we can talk about our surgeries together - I feel more like a sister than a Aunt to this wonderful woman. Hugs & Blessings to All... Aunt Carolyn WLS 12-5-03 373/247/180

Hello Shelia: Congrats on your upcoming surgery. My prayer for you - - ....Strengthen your servant, O God, to do what she has to do and bear what she has to bear; that, accepting your healing gifts through the skill of Surgeons and Nurses, she may be restored to usefulness in your world with a thankful heart. Amen.

Congratulations on your surgery date! I have some Zen Wisdom for you - Nothing exists but momentarily...One thing flows into another...observe things as they are, let everything go as it goes. This is to put everything under control in its widest sense. --- May God keep you close to his side as you travel your new journey. You will have ups and downs. You can always turn to us, your AMOS family, we will give support, comfort and encouragement. You will find this will be the best thing you could ever have done for yourself as well as your family. I know that was true for me. Keep us posted when you reach the "other" side. I pray for a speedy and easy recovery for you. Don’t forget to update your profile at least monthly. We all like to see how we are doing!!! Make sure you take pictures. It’s great to see the new you emerge!!! Not to mention the look on YOUR face when you look at those pictures and compare them in a few months! It’ll be a BIG WOW!!! Please remember too, that this is a *tool* to use. Make sure you use it wisely. The first year it’s pretty easy, after that I’ve been hearing (I’m not speaking from experience as I’m not a year out yet) that it gets increasingly difficult. Choose the right foods and measurements wisely! Good luck and God Bless!!! RNY 10/31/03 down 115 pounds– I’M IN THE CENTURY CLUB!!! Congratulations on your upcoming surgery and your new lifetime journey on the losing side. Right now you are probably on a rollercoaster emotionally - excited, nervous, scared.... This is normal - don't let it freak you out. Take the time over the next few days and 'center' yourself mentally - focus your mind on other things and keep yourself physically busy too. You will find that your big day will be here in no time and you will be calm and ready for it. We will be here ready to welcome you over to the losing side and support you in your journey. Good luck and hope everything goes well for you. Sarah G LapRNY 6/22/04 295/262/150
