"Awesome person, Awesome Doctor."

Gratiot Medical Center

"I felt that between my doctor and the staff, there was much to be desired in the food service area. I did not get 1 ounce of water every hour, the first day. I didn't get an ounce every half hour the second day. Some staff thought that they should control the diet by bringing me the amount of water at the appropriate times (which was rarely kept up with). Others felt that it was ok to bring in a large cup with a dose cup (that suited me just fine, at least I could have something to drink). On day 3, I was supposed to start liquid diet and I had no idea that I was supposed to call the kitchen to get my foods. Once I figured that out (3 hours without even water), they told me that my doctor forgot to change the order. Well, I was so upset, I just went to sleep and called my husband and told him to pick me up immediately after work. They know that I was very upset and I hope they have written a policy of how everything is to be done for future patients."

Ernest Cudjoe

"First, I had to go to an orientation where Dr. Cudjoe presented a very impressive powerpoint presentation. I had been to one other bariatric orientation before and it was not as well-prepared as Dr. Cudjoe's. A packet of information and instructions were given at the time of the orientation. This was all the information that I needed to start on the road. My impression still stands that Dr. Cudjoe and his staff are well-prepared and have their bases covered. I did have a mix up happen at the office as far as they put my chart in the wrong insurance category which cost me about 2 weeks in the whole process. I have a kind of odd-ball insurance, so this is totally forgivable. Whenever I had questions, I called or stopped by the office and got prompt service. I do not even have a surgery date at this point and already have 95% of the information that I need as far as what to do after surgery and the support group available. Dr. Cudjoe has gone over the risks of the surgery during the orientation and once personally with me at my first appointment. I hold off on rating Dr. Cudjoe until after the surgery. Right now, it seems that he is a no-nonsence, practical doctor and I am very happy with that."
