(which is necessary here in Holland before you have the surgery). Since I do not know Dutch very well, I need to rely
upon my husband Marco or our friend Sandra for translation.
The doctors office called me last friday and told me that they were waiting on getting bigger operating tables for larger
patients (as I mentioned above..most everyone here in Holland is slender). But at the same time what happens if one
of those larger patients has a heart attack and needs to have an operation and they are not prepared?? This has
raised some questions. Our friend Sandra made a call to the doctor for me on Tuesday (10/25/05), she was told
that the doctor thinks that I am too high of a risk to perform the surgery on me. That the only way they would do
it is, if I lost alot of weight. (Hmmm..trying to figure out what reason it is that I am trying to have this surgery
for! ohhh yes, that is right..TO LOSE WEIGHT) I was told back in July..that I would have the operation in Nov/Dec.
He waits until now..after we keep trying to make appointments to get the different requirements needed in before
Nov/Dec, to make the surgery possible in Nov/Dec. I am just shocked at this. To let me wait and wait, when
they knew they would not do the surgery. It is kind of frustrating.
I have also researched a doctor in Belgium, Dr Jacques Himpens. I emailed them telling them my BMI 66/67..etc. They
replied that they operate on all BMI's over 40. My husband and I, we went to the insurance company this morning to
find out if they would cover the surgery in Belgium. They said that it would be covered, only after all of the resources
in Holland refuse to operate on me.
I have an appointment on Nov 11, 2005, with my current Doctor to get more information from him. The insurance agency
told us that there were steps that needed to be followed. So we shall see what can be done. It looks like we will have
to take small steps. But hopefully, it will be easier than it seems to be at the moment. (lol..i am not bald yet..from tearing
my hair out in frustration..but perhaps by the time I have the surgery..I will no longer have to worry about the
potential hair loss..BECAUSE IT WILL ALL BE GONE)
