I met with the surgeon (Dr. Curry) and all of his staff last Wednesday and things went well. They gave me a list of things I need to do according to my insurance company before it can get sent in for approval. I have to get the letter from my PCP, get my last 2 years of medical records, have a sleep apnea test, do the psychological, and do a medically supervised diet. Fortunately the medically supervised diet only has to be 8 visits and I am doing that at Dr. Curry's office and can do a visit every week. Wednesday counted as my first one. This coming Wednesday I am doing the psychological and my 2nd visit for the medically supervised diet. I was told at Dr. Curry's office not to lose any weight during this "diet", rather just maintain my current weight. If I lose weight then my BMI will drop and I won't be eligible for surgery. Ahhh!
I called my PCP to get the letter and my medical records, as they had already said they would provide anything I needed. The lady who writes the letters was out of the office until 12/3. And I'm waiting for the people from the sleep center to call me to schedule that appointment. It's all just a waiting game. I'm anxious, of course. I really want this surgery. I just fear that I'll get denied by the insurance company. I suppose everyone has that fear though, eh?
Until next time...
Peace, love, & bands,
