Eric Thoburn

"Nov 25, second appt with Dr. Thoburn after UGI to evaluate 1987 bypass. I have some problems with a very my old bypass (not performed by Dr. Thoburn). Most doctors dont want to see a previous bypass patient, but Dr. T has been good enough to evaluate me for repair of old bypass problem. He is a young physician, however immediately I knew he was very no nonsense in his dealings with patients and I have no doubt he is very experienced in what he does. Seemed a very busy physician which is not a bad thing, the busiest are usually the best doctors! Office staff cordial and helpful. 15 DEC 03 The office staff has been cordial and helpful as I am somewhat antsy and have called several times trying to see if my letter to Blue Cross has been submitted. 19 JAN 04 Office staff extremely helpful and nice when I called in very upset regarding an insurance matter. Dr. Thoburn did an excellent job with my revision surgery. I develped several complications after surgery he worked diligently to correct and probably saved my health by his quick actions on my behalf. I would highly recommend him. "

North Florida Regional Medical Center

"My surgery was 30 March 04. The lack of staff was very evident. Some staff seemed extremely harsh to me and operated on the reward and punishment method. I WOULD NOT USE THIS HOSPITAL EVER AGAIN. I had to tell these nurses when IV infiltrated in my neck even though it was very swollen. I guess they were not even checking the site for infiltration. Scary place, my step-mom had to beg just to get my staff to take my temp Temp was over 105 before staff even took it. Nurses tried to get people (doctor, family members) to think I was "confused" when I was not. At one point the nurses tied me by both hands and both legs to hospital bed and I spent one of the most uncomfortable nights of my life. Nurse came in to work sick with coughing spells. Some nurses did not want to help you to bathroom even day of surgery. I AM A NURSE, patients should not be treated the way I was treated, I did nothing to deserve the way I was treated, it was horrendous. I even had to walk from floor out of hospital as they could not get anyone to come and take me out by wheel chair, my husband and I waited about 45 minutes, asked more than one nurse and finally gave up and just walked out. Terrible conditions overall, I was afraid while in this hospital, many nurses just did not care. Other nurses felt they had the right to punish patients if they did something the nurse did not like. Had I not had someone who stayed with me part of the time, my condition may have deteriorated even more without anyone caring enough to take my vital signs or being aware of the problems I was experiencing. For this hospital, you really need a friend or family memeber to be with you at all times. Be warned, this could also happen to you. "

Kamalesh K. Pai

"Doctor Pai has exhibited both caring and concern and seems an excellent physician in his field."

Michael Sharpe

"At first last year when I mentioned seeking help from a bariatric doctor due to weight gain, Doctor Sharpe was not supportive, he asked me "What can he (bariatric Doctor) do?" I sought help from bariatric doctor anyway. After bariatric doctor confirmed that my original bypass had a failed suture line I went back to Dr. Sharpe and he was neither supportive nor non-supportive, merely listened to my plans to have revision of failed suture line. He did tell me most patients with a failed suture line DO NOT have it repaired. I did not ask for his help in getting approval in any way but felt he should know about surgery as he was PCP and would be getting paperwork as well as asked to do follow-up after surgery. He did send Dr Thoburn a referral form for when insurance was filed. "
