Hugh Houston

"(Dr. Houston's name is pronounced "Howston.") I met with Dr. Houston for my initial consult in August or Sept. 2003, which was shortly after he moved over from the Vanderbilt group to Cumberland Surgical Associates where the "infamous" Dr. Dyer practices. Dr.Dyer performed my husband's RNY in 8/03, but the wait is several months long for Dyer, so I chose to have a consult with Dr. Houston. At first glance, I was impressed by the doctor's pretty blue eyes. I was fairly educated about the procedure already after having attended two other surgeons' seminars, but Dr. Houston continued with his overview of the surgery as he would perform it. We discussed the subtle nuances between he and Dr. Dyer with regard to technique and so forth. When I called the office back in October 2003 to let Dr. Houston know I had not yet been approved by BCBS and that I would have to cancel my tentative surgery date, it was Dr. Houston who answered the phone. I think folks will find that they can talk to Dr. Houston on a human level and this may ease any fears they have. My surgery has finally been pre-approved and I'm pleased that Dr. Houston will be my surgeon. "
