"Depending on the nurses shifts depended on the care I got. I found that my night nurse and morning nurses were much better than my day nurses."

Henry Horrilleno

"Very down to business, and straight shooting. I liked his experience in lap surgries and that he has studied under Dr. Whittgrove. Dr. Horrilleno is new to the type of surgery but has an excellent surgical background and I am confident in his ability to do this proceedure. Leo his nurse, you have to call her over and over, but she has always been very nice to me and helped me whenever she could. Dr. Horrilleno, told me that he would be my doctor for life and I wanted that type of care out of my doctor. He stresses that this is a life long change and that aftercare is the most important thing other than the surgery itself. All risks were discussed and he made me feel comfortable about them even though they are there. I so far would rate him a 10! UPDATE! I saw Dr. H on the 19th to schedual my surgery date and I have to share this one aspect obout him. He had an appendicites attack on Saturday the 24th and was out of the hospital that night. He had his surgery done lap and I was so amazed at how well he was on Monday, even well enough to come to work. I was touched at his dedication! He seemed very excited for me that we were going ahead with the surgery and very positive! I feel so confident in him! 08/30/01: I had to stop and post about Dr. H. I understand the frustration that pre-ops have about the insurance issue that is going on in his office right now. Lord knows that when I was looking for a doctor I wanted my surgery done yesterday! But, I think that you all must keep in mind that he is not the only doctor in this area that has opted out on taking insurance. Dr. Barzune does not accept any insurance plans either. I am grateful that I was one of the ones that got in while he was accepting insurance, that was the only way that I was able to have my surgery. I do think that the office should tell you that when you call to find out about the surgery. But, this in no means says anything about his surgical abliity. I checked him out top to bottom and he had a flawless record. He may not be the best people person, but he is a surgeon not a greeter at Wal-Mart. I guess I just carry my feeling for him on my sleeve, he saved my life and many others on this board. He has given me the best aftercare I could have ever hoped for and I picked him because of his surgical ability and training in the area of WLS. We all have our personallty flaws and he may not be as comfortable as other of us talking in big groups. He does come from another country and that could be a hinderance in his communication skills. I just had to add my 2 cents worth. I still find Dr. H to be a God send."
