Getting back on track

Jul 22, 2010

My precious baby boy has been here for almost a year now and I have gotten so far off track it isn't even funny. I was at my lowest weight the day he was born and now because of all the snacking (especially late night when getting bottles) I have actually started gaining weight. Something needed to be done, so I am now on the 5 day pouch test diet or as I call it the reset button! I am on day three and have already lost 8 pounds! I am just so happy to see that I haven't ruined my pouch. And I am so grateful that there is a diet out there to get us back on track. I am done beating myself up over this and working on getting back focused on eatting right and drinking my water. Good luck to all of you out there.

Baby boy on the way!!

Mar 23, 2009

I'm PREGNANT!!! WOO HOO! And we were able to do it on our own with no medical intervention thanks to my RNY. The only problems I am having so far is that i have been losing weight the whole time but the doctor doesn't seem concerned. And the other issue is because I failed the first glucose test and can't take the 2nd one, they are just assuming I have gestational diabetes. So I get to prick my finger 4 times a day. But it will all be worth it in August when I am holding my precious baby boy! Good luck to all of you starting on this exciting journey. You are going to go through so many ups and downs, but it is so worth it in the end!

100 pounds gone forever!!!

Mar 06, 2008

I finally lost 100 pounds! That last pesky pound was hanging on for dear life and now it is finally gone!! WOOOOO HOOOO!!!! I am posting new pictures now. I still have about another 61 pounds to go (at least) but I am happy where I am. Anything extra from this point is just great!

SHAME ON ME!!!!!!

Nov 26, 2007

I am so sorry! I really wanted to keep up with this better and I have not. So much has happened. Let's see. Well first off I finally got over the nausea. Turns out my body had become dependent on the patches and I was getting sick when I wasn't wearing them. Once I got them out of my system, I stopped being sick. It has been GREAT ever since. I am now 5 months out and 85 pounds down. I have started to slack a little in my exercise and am now trying to get back into the groove with that. I feel so much better now. I sleep better, I move easier. I constantly want to be doing something. I have noticed that I have a lot more energy after taking my multivitamin. Let's see, what else... oh yeah I lost my job :( I worked in the subprime mortgage industry which has unfortunately tanked big time! However my husband has accepted a job in Virginia, so it looks like we are moving. I am a strong believer in "everything happens for a reason", so I am just going with the flow. I hope to have updated pictures up soon. I look at the ones that are up here now and can't believe that was me a few months ago!! I now have collar bones! And can see the tendons in the backs of my hands. Little things like that excite me the most! Good luck to you all!

8 weeks out and 51 pounds gone

Aug 15, 2007

I am still battling the nausea. I called and asked the nurse to take me off the patches and give me a pill that I had heard won't make you sleepy and she did. I took my patch off yesterday and I am trying to not take anything today. The nausea keeps coming and going in waves. I think I am going to have to take something soon. I hate that I am still dealing with this and hope it stops soon. The patches were terrible though. They were starting to burn the skin behind my ears. I have big circles back there now and I hope they don't scar. Other than that things are going great. I keep wearing my bigger clothes and my hubby says I need to stop doing that. I wore a shirt today that is 2 sizes smaller than what I have been wearing and I have gotten nothing but compliments all day. It has been great. I am so glad I had the surgery. Even with all the nausea I am still so happy. I had one of my first break throughs the other day. I was at the doctor's office and I was able to cross my legs while I was sitting in the waiting room. I haven't done that in a long time. I am still doing pretty good with my exercise (Thank God we bought that treadmill a few years back!) I walk 30 minutes in the morning and do arm exercises, and run/walk for 30 minutes at night. I am up to running about half of it now. I would love to be able to run the whole 30 minutes by Sept. Well I think that is enough rambling for now. Good luck to all those thinking of going through the process. The first 2 weeks are the hardest, after that the fun begins.

5 1/2 weeks out and 40 pounds gone...

Jul 31, 2007

forever hopefully! Everyone is starting to say they can really see it, but I still can't. Yeah my clothes are loser and some things I have gone down a size but I just don't see it when I look in the mirror. I still don't regret having the surgery though. I am not doing very well getting my water and protein in. But that is partly because I am still having problems with the nausea. It is getting better but I am still wearing the patch behind my ear. I have gotten sick about 7 times so far from either eating too fast or something my pouch didn't like. The vomitting doesn't bother me because I feel much better once it is out. It just happens so quickly. I have made it a point to always scout out the nearest restroom when we go out to eat. I am still doing good with my exercising which is weird because I would have thought that would have been the hardest thing to keep up with for me. I get up at 4:45 and walk/jog a half hour on my treadmill. And then do it again at night while my hubby bathes our daughter. He has been such a great guy through all this. You really couldn't ask for a better hubby! He is so sweet. Every day he asks if I still feel sick. Although I have told him to stop asking and that I will tell him when I don't anymore. He cheers me on with every pound I lose. And if there is something I want or need he is right there offering to go out and get it. I have started calling him my food nazi though. Anytime I try something new he asks "Did they say you can have that?" He is such a worry wart. I don't know what I would do with out him. My daughter likes to look at my scars and put her stickers on them. She says she is making mommy's boo boos all better. The down side to this is that she wants to show EVERYONE mommy's boo boos. No matter where we are or who it is. Anyway that is my update. I hope to get more pictures posted soon. I keep getting hubby to take them, I just haven't uploaded them yet. Good night! And good luck to everyone getting ready to go through all this. If you can just make it through the first 2 weeks, I promise it gets a LOT better after that!

7/19/07 Happy 1 month to me!!

Jul 19, 2007

Well I am one month out now. I am down 35 pounds from highest weight and 30 from day of surgery! WOO HOO! I am now able to eat seafood too which is great! I am still having trouble with the nausea and I hope it goes away soon. It makes it difficult to get the water and protein in but I still try. I am getting my exercise in and so far I am losing a pound a day. I hope that keeps up. Good luck to all having the surgery soon. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

7/12/07 23 pounds down!

Jul 12, 2007

I went to see Dr. Bauman yesterday because I am having the hardest time with nausea. He said that some people do have a hard time with it and gave me some phenagren. The problem with that is I can only take it at night because it makes me so sleepy. He said if it didn't go away in the next few weeks they may have to stretch my pouch because it may be healing too tightly. I don't think that is the problem because I can eat and not feel sick.
Speaking of eating... I am now pretty much living on 2 ritz crackers with a little bit of peanut butter or a low fat string cheese melted with a little marinara sauce. They both taste so good!! I can not wait to start seafood next week!
Oh by the way I am now down 23 pounds from the day of surgery and 27 from highest weight. I am still getting in my 60 minutes of exercise but I am having a hard time getting in all the water and protein because they both make me so sick!

6/28/07 1 week post op & 11 pounds gone!!

Jun 28, 2007

WOO HOO! 11 pounds gone forever! My scales say 14 but then again I wasn't wearing jeans and shoes when I was on my scales. They took the staples out and put on the steri strips, thank you Jennifer for reminding me to tell them not to put the Benzoin on them!! They were all still talking about my bad reaction to the pain medicine. I wish I could remember more about that day. Even Dr. B. came in telling me not to ever take that stuff again. Other than that it went pretty smoothly. I am getting 63 grams of protein in (THANK GOD FOR THOSE PROTEIN BULLETS!) and he said I need to work a little harder on the water and exercise. I am at 50 ozs with the water and 45 minutes with the exercise. My problem is that I was trying to do all my walking at once and it was really making my belly cramp up so I am going to break it into 2 seperate work outs. Now I am just waiting to see the nut. next week and then I see Dr. B again in 3 weeks. Hope everyone is doing well!!

6/26/07 getting a little better day by day.

Jun 26, 2007

I am finally starting to get into a routine with all the pills and vitamins and protein. Still having a hard time getting all the water in, sip, sip, sip. If I could gulp it I wouldn't have any problems!  And I am only getting 30 minutes on the treadmill instead of 60 but I will get there. The pain is a little less each day, but you can really tell when you have over done it. I weighed on my scales this morning (Even though they are always wrong) and it said I am down 10 pounds!! WOO HOO!!! Mine usually weigh you higher than what you are so I will have to see when I go in on Thursday to see Dr. B. I can't wait to get the staples out! They are making me itch. Thank you all so much for all your support and prayers! They mean so much!
