I had my lap band removed....
Jul 07, 2009
I went to the dr on June 17 with severe abdominal pain that I had felt since June 1. They ran several tests to check my lap band and then scheduled me for an endoscopy the following day. After my endoscopy it was discovered that my lap band had eroded through my stomach. I was in the hospital for 8 days recovering from the repairs to my stomach. I can not have the lap band as my insurance will not pay for it again, as well as I don't think my body can handle it. I am going to try to continue eating as I have been in the hopes that my weight loss will continue. I have lost 70 pounds to date and am very determined to get the rest off. As far as the odds of it happening, lap band erosion happens to 2 out of a 1000 lap band surgeries. At my surgeon's practice, I was the second one ever that he had erosion happen to.

I am kinda bummed that I am not feeling better. Everyone I talked to said I would want to return to work tomorrow. Well, the spirit is willing, but the flesh is week. I am having bad gas pains, but I didn't have much chance to walk the day of surgery because I didn't get home until 8 pm. I was the last surgery of the day. Anyway, the staples look okay, and they don't hurt so much, but my shoulders and back are killing me. I have managed to exercise yesterday and today. I rode my recumbent bike. I know they said to walk, but I don't have a treadmill, and it is 20 degrees outside. I rode my bike slowly for 15 minutes yesterday and 20 minutes today. I am just so tired. I don't see how I will be able to go to work at all this week. My boss said take the time I need to heal, but I feel like I am neglecting my team. Oh well, Veronica said it was time to be selfish. Take care of me.
I guess that is what I will do.
