Ten Months On the Loser's Bench!
May 18, 2010
May 18, 2010
I weighed this morning and I weight 125! That's a total weight loss of 73 pounds! I am wearing a size 4 now! I feel so good. I can basically eat what I want - just in small portions. I am still really careful about eating too much sugar. I got dumping syndrome after eating an ice cream cone. YUK! I thought I would die for about 45 minutes. Needless to say, I don't care if I EVER eat another as long as I live! Below is a list of things that I can do now that I couldn't or wouldn't do when I weighed 198:
Tie my shoes
Sit in the floor and play with my grandbabies
Cross my legs
Clean hard to reach places
Enjoy shopping for clothes!!! (Love it, Love it!)
Eat guilt free
Tuck my shirt in (and look darn good!!!)
Wear sleeveless clothes
Wear shorter dresses (not to my ankles to cover up)
Be proud of who I am!
Receive compliments from people.
Turn heads!!! (Yes, I am a happily married woman of 33 years!)
Etc, Etc, Etc.

6 Months - 60 pounds!
Jan 03, 2010
I can't believe it has been 6 months since my gastric bypass surgery! What a ride! I am feeling great! I recently cleaned out closets and disposed of six garbage bags of clothes. Just out of curiosity, I had to slip into one of my largest suits. Wow! The pants didn't touch me anywhere! I have gone from a size 16 to a 6. I am only 5'1 1/2" so every pound shows on my small frame. My heaviest weight was 198 and I am now 138. It feels so good to have people notice the weight loss. Would I do it again??? You betcha! I feel like I have my life back! I am no longer taking blood pressure, cholesterol, nor depression medication. WOOHOO! Besides my weight goal, I had a personal goal to wear a bling bling rhinestone belt with jeans and shirt tucked in. This past month I met that goal and it felt GREAT!!! I have about 13 pounds to go and although my weight loss has slowed down, I know it will happen. Oh yeah, I recently went shopping to buy a pair of dress pants. I took a size 8 to the dressing room and they were too big! I had to go down to size 6 and they fit perfectly. Reality hit me and I stood in that dressing room and cried like a baby!
If you are considering having the bypass surgery, then my advice to you is to do it!!! Go meet with a surgeon and get the ball rolling! Don't wait! The losers bench is waiting for you! Reclaim your life!

Tomorrow!
Jul 07, 2009
My husband and I arrived at Dallas a little while ago. I can't believe that my surgery is tomorrow! I have my EGD at 7:30 am and then surgery at 9:45 am. I have so many people praying for me that I know everything will go well. I put my trust completely in God and I know he will bring me through without complications. I am not afraid of being put to sleep, I just hope I am not experiencing a great deal of pain afterwards. I guess I better get ready for bed. I have to get up really early in the morning and be at the hospital by 6 am. By the time I post again, I will be on the losers bench! WOOHOO!!!

Two More Days!
Jul 06, 2009
My surgery is in two days and I am ready! All that's left to do is make hotel reservations for my family. I have to be at the hospital at 5:30 am on Wednesday and since we have a 2 1/2 hour drive to Dallas, it just makes sense to go tomorrow night. My mom says she is spending the night with me after surgery and I appreciate her support, but she is not in good health so somehow I will talk her out of it. My husband will stay with me if it is necessary. I have been on a one week liquid diet. It hasn't been as hard as I thought it would be. I was really strong at the July 4th party. Now that was a true test, but I ate my soup and left the forbidden food alone. I must get the laundry done. ~ Later ~

Tests Completed
Jun 29, 2009
I had my final test today!!! I passed the stress test with flying colors! The biggest challenge was putting my tennis shoes on! I cant wait until that simple task isn't a struggle. My surgery is July 8th - one week and two days from today. I can't believe it! I'm starting to get a little concerned about the week liquid diet, but I can do it! It may sound crazy, but I have been eating food that I can't have later - like a Dairy Queen chocolate malt and Fritos! They were so good, but I keep reminding myself that nothing tastes as good as being thin feels! I have been reading as many posts and stories that time will allow and they have been so helpful. Thank you all for sharing. This journey hasn't seemed quite as lonely knowing you all have shared similar stories.
