The process has begun!

Well, Dr. K. is going to do my surgery. I am gathering all of my documentation for submission to Aetna. I'm hoping it can be submitted by the end of the week and there won't be a denial in my future. Aetna has seemed pretty good for everything else, so hopefully this will be no different.
12-14-10 : Had my psych eval done last night. Hopefully the submission to the insurance will happen today. I'm ready to get this done!
12-22-10: Aetna denied me yesterday. There are no notes with my EGD showing the problems that the doctor verbally told me he found. So now I have to wait for the peer to peer. I'm so mad!! I can't understand why a doctor would not put all of his findings in his notes.
1-14-11: Still waiting on the results of the appeal from Aetna. In the meantime, I went to see my local RNY surgeon (Needleman). He is doing an exploratory surgery for me on the 19th. He will possibly to the bottom part of the DS/BPD at that time, depending on what he finds. I sure hope he finds whatever is wrong and fixes it!

Well, the EGD is done. No ulcers this time, but I have more sutures coming through the staple line, which I guess is what is causing all the pain. My surgeon doesn't want to do surgery at all, so now I'm searching for someone who is qualified to do the revision from RNY to DS. Aetna is also going to be a hurdle, since there are apparently very few docs in the U.S. capable of doing this surgery -- and so far, I haven't found one "in-network" so the cost goes from $1500 max to full self-pay for out of network.
