Well, I have to admit that I am horrible when it comes to updating things about myself on here.
We all say "yeah, i'll do it" in the beginning. But we don't. And it's a shame.
There's no good excuse why we don't. The reasons I didn't, were medical reasons.
I was in & out of the hospital so much, the staff was knowing me by my first name. Now that's bad!
Here I am 6 years out, and still following all the rules that you get when you are discharged.
I still watch what I eat, and I limit my sugar intake, and always make sure I get enough protein. I still hate drinking water! That is still a problem for me! I like diet Mt. Dew *S*
It's much harder for me since I am a vegetarian. I am lacto/ovo which means I can consume eggs, dairy & fish. But I have such a hard time with dairy products. Thank goodness for Lactaid!
There have been alot of good things that have come from this surgery, but there have also been alot of bad things also!
I was put through hell because of the rush of hormonescaused by the massive weight loss, causing me to have a hysterectomy within the first year post op.
That was something I wish I would've known beforehand. But when I went through it, no one really knew all of that. I was one of the earlier ones going through it.
The one thing I was lucky enough not to have gone through was plastic surgery.
My surgeon advised me to wear sports bras and binders to help the skin retract. And whatever skin that wasn't in those restricting items to wear spandex. It really made a difference for me. I don't have any noticeable sagging or hanging skin anywhere.
I did have hernia surgery. I had a large piece of mesh put in my abdomin.
Other than that, the surgeries I have been in the hospital for a few times for my own personal reasons.
I can't say honestly that I am a happier person because of the surgery. I can say that my health is better because of it. Well at least the perts of it that haven't been operated on.
I have talked to many, many people about the surgery, and asked them to talk to my surgeon about it. Or at least do some research on it, so they can be more informed about it.
In my eyes, my Dr. is the most caring man I have met in Colorado, when it comes to Dr.'s. He actually cares about you as a person, and wants what is best for you, even if your insurance doesn't cover it.
As of today I am 138 pounds. Everyone says I look too damn skinny. I have tried to gain some weight, but it's impossible with the medication I am on. If I continue to lose weight I will talk to my Dr. about it.
My youngest son just "graduated" from the 11th grade with honors. He has a 4.25 GPA.
He took 6 college classes this year and he only had one high school class. I am pretty proud of his accomplishments.
He also received awards for his high score on the ACT. He scored about the state's score. The average score is 19, he got 21.
He also received the principals award, which means he receives a bar for his letterman's jacket and a medal. Not many in his class receive these. I believe three got these.
James my elder son who has already graduated high school, is now studying to be a culinary arts major. Right now is a break for college classes, his grades were all A's, and one B. He just took up a part time job at a local Mexican restaraunt for some extra money. He seems to liking the job, but you know kids. *S*
My sons are my life, and without them, the defination of me would be nothing but a hollow person.
