5 Months Post-Op; 90 lbs Gone Forever; and in Onederland
Aug 11, 2009
Yippee!!! I've been waiting to be out of the 200's and low and behold on my 5 month surgiversary I weighed in at 198 lbs and I am down 90 lbs total. It just keeps getting better.
My original goal before surgery was 60 lbs gone for my birthday on August 19th - so the weight loss has gone better than I had anticipated. My new goal is to have 100 lbs gone forever by my 6 month check-up on September 16th and I don't think that will be a problem.
When I started this journey my health was rapidly deteriorating. I prayed that I would make it to my 60th birthday, that I could be 60 lbs lighter, able to breath again, and healthy enough to have a much needed knee replacement. I am happy to say my 60th birthday is around the corner and God willing I get to enjoy it. I am off ALL medication except my levothyroxine for my inactive thyroid (I'll be on that until I die) and still have my inhaler but have not had an occasion where I have needed it. On June 30th I had total knee replacement and I'm recuperating nicely from that. I feel soooo much better than before!!! And even though this past 5 months has not been all roses (I'm a dumper) I am so happy I made this decision and grateful for the OHIP coverage.
For any who may still be trying to decide if WLS is for them assess your present life/health status and that will help you decide. If you are able to continue like that for the rest of your days or if you think you can get your weight/health issues under control yourself; then WLS isn't for you. I wish everyone having to make this decision all the best regardless of their decision.
My journey continues ... thanks for all the support.
