January 30th 2009 a new year and a new me, soon!

Jan 31, 2009

I am getting excited! February 17th I start my Very low calorie diet. March 10th is my surgery date. The end of February I am going to participate in my LABS overnight testing. This month I got new cuppboards, a new K and dining room floor. The owner of the complex got grants from the Housing authority, so there has been lots of upgrades! Its like Chirstmas! so since I had to go thru my kitchen items, I gave away a lot of extra pots and pans and dishes. I only kept one of each thing and my set of Blue Willow dishes, which I only have 2 plates and 2 cups left. But that is all I need! I use small plastic bowls to eat from now. I only use the plate for my big salad. I am going to buy some cute small china bowls from the thrift store, as that is all I need.
I heard some one say they use a baby spoon. Does that work well???
I have been sick all winter so I did nto loose any weight. I have been going to cardio rehab maintainance gym class. I am back to doing 30 minutes on the crosstrainer recumbant machine. I get to 3000 steps now in 30 minutes! That's at level 4. My elbows are still very sore because of the fibromyalgia and generative disk disease. so that is why it is so hard for me to do exercise! I rarely use my wheelchair. I do use my power wheel chair to get to the bus as it is too far for me to walk. I take the bus and go to my volunteer job and back.
some of my clothes are looser, especially my bra, the under the bust size is smaller. I think that is because of the stretchy bands, weigh lifts and yoga we do at cardio rehab after we use the machines.
I have a few items of clothes for several sizes smaller. I figure I can get some clothes at the thrift store to fill in the lower sizes until I am at my base a year plus after sugery. I did buy 2 jumpers for church for after 40 pounds down. So i think I am ok for clothes!
OK well I am going to plan my very low calorie diet now and make up my shopping list for that 18 days from now!
Happiness to everyone!

I got really barffy friday the 21st. Had to go to the ER. They gave me meds to calm down and to stop throwing up. Was ok for almst a day then the diarreahh started... OMGosh, I thought I woudl never get out of the bathroom!
I have been using Ensure, so now I know what it tastes like for my 1000 calorie VLC diet for the 3 weeks b 4 surgery.
well i am cooking a unstuffed turkey. then when it cools down I will slice it into portins for the month, and freeze it. That works the best. I am going to my regular dr today to see what he has to say about trying the Cymbalta again. I took it for the first time Friday night so I was not sure if I had the stomach flu or a reaction to that pill. I heard others say that they had the same throw up friday also that went to the dinner thrursday. oh well......
more when i am able. Happy Thanksgiving!

October 25th 2008

Oct 25, 2008

I went to see the nurse at U of W about my test results. All is OK, my calcium was low at 29%. so i need to take more calcium. I don't normally use dairy products. I use soy milk. Suzanne Hoehne the PCC is to call me about a surgery date!!!!! also have to have the pre-anesthesia consult and nurse teaching appointment for the injections. I was given a diet sheet about the 1000 calorie program for the 3 weeks pre surgery diet.
So now I am just waiting for those phone calls and appointments. I hear that Dr Wright is scheduling for January 2009 now. I am going for the RNY.
after the appointment on the 22nd of Oct, I went to the Seminar. Dr Wright was there doing the lecture with the slide-show. I met some others who were wanting the WLS also.
Best of luck to everyone on their 3 week diets and surgery this month!

October 2nd's report

Oct 02, 2008

hello everyone!
well thank goodness i don't have pneumonia. so the dr said yes, take the 2 Lasik pills for water retention. my legs and feet are still swollen, have to use the bathroom slippers, shoes are too tight.
dr gave me a antibiotic for this cold/virus so i can get better soon. i have so much to do!
my arthritis, degenerative join disease is bothering me. i met with a dr who will help with vaious modalities to help that, but needed my regular dr to authorize ex-rays for my neck and spine. so my dr gave me the lab slip for that and i will go have the exrays done tomorrow. then Dr Paul can help and he will charge medicare and waive the co pay. isn't that nice! it is so nice to get this help I need so much!
I got my frozen pre cooked dinners, fresh veggies, some rolls from the meals on wheels. the actual place is accoss the way from me. I think it is a church. I knew they were there. So now that I qualify I can go over there when I feel good enough to do so for lunch.
I found out also that I qualify for a long term care facility after I have my surgery! because they said I would need at least a week of 24/7 care. So that is nice to know that is covered!
I got my permission also from the dr to attend the cardiac rehab maintainance program. I qualified for a grant for $360.00 for them. I think that is about 4 months worth. so I go over tomorrow to sign up agian and will start back as soon as I feel well from this cold/virus.
The nebulizer is working great!
It was a long day yesterday with the 4 diferent people I met with for pre surgery items. The surgery will not be for 3 months or so. But  I had to meet with the nutritionist, the medication person, and the social worker. they all decide if I am truely a canadate and what to expect. I didnt have the seminar with them, and that is at night! so I am still having to call tomorrow to ask if there is some way I can 'attend'  with out being there at night. they only so the seminary once a month at night! ugh. But I have a big binder with all the information on the gastric bypass operation.
I got up at 5 yesterday and its a 3 hour trip there and 3 hours back. We were in seattle for 6 hours. so it was a very long day.
They drew a quart of blood, used the back of my hand, you know how wonderfull that feels after the blood draw!
They did a EKG. Filled out a ream of paperwork, and signed my name dozens of times.
So I am sure many of you have been thru this, perhaps not, but it's all for the good. My BMI is down! yay! now at 56.1% from 58.3%! I went from highest of 367 a few years back to January 2008 of 359, to today at 331. yaay!!!
So I am headed off for bed. Thank Heavenly Father for my adjustable bed! It wa donated to me. Such a comfort!!!
It's been an equally long day here as well with my local dr visit. tomorrow with the exrays, busy busy!
hope you are well and keeping happy busy!

More appointments

Aug 20, 2008

I have some appointments for fasting blood work, see the Nutritionist, see the Social Worker and see the Medicine console, what ever that it! LOL! So while I was gone in July I lost 9 pounds. Ihave been sick in August and did not stick to the nutriton plan so i am back up 7 pounds. So as soon as I feel better, I will get back on the plan. I also signed up for finacial aid for cardiac rehab maintance to use the machines. So all that helps. While in Ca, I was able to walk up and down stairs several times a day at my cousins, and 3 times a week, 2 flights of stairs at my daughters apt. so I did great. I still get numbness in my legs and thigh when I am standing or walking for more than 10 minutes. Its the crushing of the weight on my spine. altho I had that numbness even at 140 pounds! Well, more soon!

New Blog start

Jun 21, 2008

I originally had a profile way back in 2002! I had a surgeon and all but did not have support/ The psychologist said when I felt I had support to come back. I moved to a different state, got a divorce, and applied again with U of Washington in Nov of 2004. I was denied 2 times. Now I have diabetes, and Medicare and Mediacid.
So May 2008 I got a appointment with Andrew Wright at he U of W Medical Centers - Burgical Specialty Center on NE Pacific Street in Seattle!
Yay!!! I go to the appointment in August 2008.
I have all the paperwork etc to fill out and I am just jazzed!
