Approval for Surgery
Sep 14, 2012
On August 10, 2012, I received the letter telling me that I was approved for Laparoscopy, surgical, gastric restrictive procedure. I hope the RNY is one of those or is it?? I'm not sure yet. I have to come up with $470. out of pocket for the surgery. I'm planning on doing it during Christmas break for the schools. See I'm currently a school bus driver and I have choosen the time above because I will have a full 2 weeks off of work, and I won't have to miss any work to have the surgery. I'm kind of excited and scared at the same time. I will leave it in God's hands, because he has allowed everything to go through and good so far and I believe that He will protect me and get me through the surgery as well as the weeks and months that follow the surgery. I would appreicate any feed back that someone can offer in this situation.

Appointment with Regular Doctor on Jan. 30, 2012
Feb 03, 2012
Today I went to the doctor to discuss the results of my GTT on Jan. 19th. I found out that I am insulin resistance (Not producing enough insulin). Which qualifies me as having diabeties. My husband is also a Type 2 Diabetic. We changed the way we eat and I have already lost about 6 lbs. since December 2011. Now that I am a diabetic, my BMI will not be a factor in me getting the RNY surgery done. As long as I do not weight less than 230 lbs, by July 2012, I should be able to get the RNY surgery done.

Second Appointment
Dec 24, 2011
Went to Doctor on Dec 20, 2011. My BMI is 42%. I have to lose 87.3 lbs of fat and gain my muscle mass by .01%. The doctor said that he has never seen a woman with as much muscle in her legs. I have 100.2% in right leg and 100.6% in left leg. I weight 265 lbs. now and am hoping to be at least 155 lbs after the surgery. Still have seven months of visit to the doctor to go before I could have the surgery. My insurance company requires it before I can have the RNY surgery. The doctor told me that I do qualify for the surgery, but we have to wait and see if the insurance will approve it. I have a certain yearly deductible and a specific amount of out of pocket expenses to meet before the insurance company will pay the total cost of the surgery. I hope that I will meet that amount before July 2011. I also found out that I burn 1706 calories at rest and my basic metabolic rate is on the high side of the normal range. So I'm not for sure what amount of calorie diet they will put me on. I will keep you all posted on the progress.

Hoping to have RNY surgery
Dec 19, 2011
I am a 38 year old, stay at home mom. I have 2 wonderful boys ages 17 1/2 and 13 1/2. I have a great husband. I have been struggling with my weight since I had my first son in 1994. I have tried diet pills, I tried the slim fast diet and I have tired the Special K diet. When I was on these diets I wathced what I ate, walked about a mile a day and only lost 40 lbs. total. No matter how I tried to stick with the diets after losing that 40 lbs. it was impossible for me to lose any more. So I gave up! I have had acid reflux for 11 years now, been on medicine to stop the acid and recently discovered that I have a hernia. I'm hoping to have the RNY surgery to get rid of the acid reflux and hernia. Losing weight will be an added benefit to this surgery. I am 265 lbs. right now, which is exactly 105 over by ideal weight of 160 for my height. I have seen the baratric counselor last wednesday Dec. 14th, and have an appt. tomorrow Dec. 20th with the nutritionist and The doctor. I will be having some test run and be talking to the doctor about the surgery and finding out if I quailify for it.
