Typical Story: Pudgy Kid...to Heavy Teen...to Big Girl

I can't ever remember not having my weight be an issue. Since I was a child it always seemed that I was heavier than all of the girls around me...And food has been a real compulsion for a long time. My father got very ill when I was young--8 years old--and for the next ten years the stress of his illness meant that food became a real source of comfort. I have never gotten past that.

Now, in middle age, I've developed health issues and found myself losing out on too much--with two young children I need to make a change.

With the support of a frightened but loving husband I'm on my way to a different, and I know healthier, life as a bypass patient.

I look forward to hearing from others on this journey.
