One Week Out
Sep 26, 2009
Yesterday was the red letter day when I was recommended to stop my remaining diabetes meds!! What a blessing. Prior to surgery I was on 2000 mg Metformin, 20 mg Glyburide, and 100 mg Januvia.
I'm one week and 2 1 day out from DS surgery and day before yesterday my sugars started crashing below 70, which is the number where I'm supposed to call in to my surgeon's office. The PA told me to stop everything to do with the diabetes and I'm thrilled
I am reading every post having to do with uncontrolable bowels. I'm still "living" in the bathroom, but I am still drinking shakes and other liquids with artificial sweetner. So, that may be a contributor. I am supposed to stay on these liquids until my appointment on the 2nd Oct. I'm not going to worry too much about this until I get to "regular" food on Friday. Hope it improves. I knew to expect this, but it's worse than I'd expected.
I am happy with my weight loss so far and so grateful to have gone through the surgery!!
Have a great day!!

Surgery Scheduled!
Sep 09, 2009
This is the 5th day of my presurgery fast. It took me 3 days to get my mind in gear. I was amazed at how often my mind goes to food. It ruled my life. I feel so blessed to be scheduled for my DS surgery on 9-18-09!! It's been a long road of food addiction starting with dieting gone wild into anorexia to bulimia and finally compulsive overeating. Well, you know the rest....every diet I could afford -ending up at a high of 305 pounds. Years of faking happiness and not being present in my own life. What a relief to finally (age62) to have hope for living an authentic life. I'm so glad you are all here to give and get support from. Thank you.
