Still battling it out

Jul 01, 2008

Got my third fill May 20th and was really restricted.  Have lost 12 lbs since then but restriction has lessened considerably.  Working out 5 days a week and am praying to get another 10 -15 lbs off by my bandiversary. If I can lose 24 more lbs and keep it off six months, I will investigate a tummy tuck.  Wish me luck

Still a struggle

Nov 12, 2007

I am down 45 lbs and had my first fill 10/29.  I can't tell any difference other than food gets stuck when I don't chew real well.  I can still eat more than I think I should.  I hope it gets better after the next fill.  Still losing and going to the gym but really don't feel much benefit yet from the band.  Don't know if this is normal at this stage of the game.  Will have to be very careful over the holidays:)

Labs back!

Oct 16, 2007

Well got my labs.  My A1C was 5.3 which is better than it has ever been since my diagnosis and essentially normal.  My lipid panel was mixed results.  My triglycerides were down 20 points but my cholesterol was up 50.  My doctor wanted to put me back on cholesterol medication but I bargained for another four months.  I go back in February and if my triglycerides continue to go down and my cholesterol comes down, I can stay off my meds.  My medication bill went from $300 a month to $15 with the surgery.  I hope that with the continued weight loss and working out regularly at the gym it will come down.  I was hoping that the weight loss might have a positive effect on my relationship but it seems to be having just the opposite.  Don't know where that is going to go but I guess the future will tell.

2 months postop

Oct 09, 2007

Well I am two months postop and down 36 lbs.  I am working out at a gym regularly and feel great.  The people at work are teasing me about being the incredible shrinking woman.  I haven't had my first fill yet, scheduled for October 29th.  I have noticed that I can eat more lately and not get as full.  Wt. loss down to 1-2 lb.per week.  Have been off my meds for diabetes and cholesterol since prior to surgery (blood sugars normalized on the preop liquid protein diet) and am getting my blood drawn today.  I am anxious to see what my A1C and Lipid Panel show.

Well got to 30 lbs lost.

Sep 18, 2007

Finally got down 30 lbs.  The weight loss has slowed down quite a bit since the initial couple of weeks.  My doctor warned me that with the band the weight loss was slower.  I am still going to the gym and have alot more energy.  Only eat about one meal  a day and have protein shakes for the others.  Still don't really get hungry so don't think I will ask for a fill when I go for my checkup in October.  I am having trouble with insomnia and wondering if it has to do with my changing metabolism.  Still very glad I had surgery.

25 lbs gone!

Sep 06, 2007

i just had the great experience of buying size 16 clothes.  I haven't seen that size in years.  I am so excited!  Eating more normal food but can only take in small portions (which is what should be happening).  Still drinking protein 3 - 4 times a day.  Going to the gym and have a trainer who I really think is trying to kill me (and I am paying him to do this?).  Overall very happy about having the surgery.

Wt. loss slowing but still there

Aug 29, 2007

Just went for my two week recheck with my surgeon and she is pleased with my progress.  Have lost about 20 lbs. since starting the preop diet.  I am on soft foods and can go to regular food in a couple of weeks.  I already have more energy.

12 days postop

Aug 21, 2007

Well I am about 12 days out from surgery.  Everything is pretty much back to normal as far as how I feel.  I am supposed to be on pureed diet but nothing sounds appetizing so still doing the liquid protein drinks 5 x daily.  Need to go to the store tonight to get a little food processor.  Tried to blend something in the blender last night with no success.  Have lost 18 lbs. as of this morning since starting the preop diet.

One week Preop

Aug 01, 2007

Well I am one week preop and in the middle of the liquid protein diet that my doctor requires for two weeks.  Was very hungry the first couple of days but better now.  Hardest thing is handling business luncheons and questions by coworkers.  I am excited for surgery but very nervous also.
