Doing the pre-op for the third time...

Aug 02, 2010

I'm hoping it's the last and final time.   It's day 5 and I am HUNGRY!  But I know I can do this!
Eatting my third SF popsicle this morning... lol
For those that don't know me... I am Wendy ~ I live in Boscawen, N H and have been fat for
pretty much my entire life.   I remember being in 4th grade and the nurse calling out that I
weighed 140 lbs.   So began my dealings with callous people not sparing my feelings.  lol
I first started my wls journey in 2004... got all the way through all the tests and psych evals
and was set to meet the nurse and nut when we lost our insurance.   Then in June of 2009
thanks to Gov Lynch passing the law in NH to make WLS covered by all insurance... I was able to
re persue.   June 5 2009 I went to my "1st" meeting at DHC -Lebanon and fast tracked my way to
scheduling my surgery for Nov 11.   4 days before the date my insurance company decided I needed to
have 6 months of physician assisted dieting so they nixed it.   I then joined WW and met with my PCP
for 6 months and got my surgery approved and set for May 24th.   Managed to get through the pre op and went
in as scheduled for my RNY on May 24th only for Dr. Laycock to find a 10 lb tumor hanging from my liver.
He had to excise the tumor and was unable to do the RNY at that time.   Thankfully it was benign and I just had to
heal up from that surgery to be back in the running for my surgery.   Oh did I mention that my hubbys employer decided
to change Insurance companies?   Yah... lol so I had to get approved AGAIN!!!!    Thankfully I scheduled an appt with my pcp
for the assisted dieting protocol and didnt have to start over.... so now I have been approved and my surgery is set
for August 12th.   Dr. Laycock is planning on RNY but has concerns about adhesions from my 2 c sections, hysterectomy, appendectomy and now the tumor excision.... so he wants the ability to change his mind once in to do the Sleeve.   and of course.....my new Insurance company wont approve the sleeve.   So I spent all of yesterday filling out a form for financial assistance in case they do the sleeve while on the table.
Everyone tells me that nothing worthwhile comes easy..... Let's hope that's the case and all goes well!

This is me last weekend... (on the right... lol)

Hope to meet some folks on here.... hit me up!

Hugs ~ Wendy
