"I have BC PPO and was limited to UC Davis staff or a COE in Sac. I went to the seminar at UCD and was ok with it. Then I went to Dr. Machado's seminar and it was \"case closed\"! What an affecting personality and utmost knowledge in her field. In addition, my cardiologist (who has had RNY), and the director of the Obesity Treatment Center that I had been affliated with for 20+ years both said to go to her rather than UCD. When I had my first consult, she took all the time I needed to answer my questions and those of my husband. She was very reassuring and also forthright. Wonderful person! Her staff is fantastic as well. I told them I work for a school district and if there was any way to schedule my surgery around Winter Break, it would be ideal. Well, they got me in to the nut. and psych with cancellations and I had all my other appts as fast as I could. My consult was 9/17 and my surgery will be 12/8! Also, I was watching a new show on the Discovery Channel on Monday, November 17 about obesity. There was my doctor talking about the disease and they showed her performing an operation. Not that my confidence in her needed to be boosted, but they would not have featured her without doing their homework and knowing what a great surgeon she is. I know I am in great hands!"
