Fungi is delicious. So is a fun guy.

Jun 03, 2012

I'm now seeing a guy I met on OKCupid. He's funny, enthusiastic, and seems to be really into me. And he's a body builder who weighs 152 lbs. and says he has 3% body weight. Instead of going out to dinner, we had protein shakes together.

I've never seen an abdominal "6-pack" in the flesh before. Seeing sculpted body muscles is quite impressive.

State of the Eva

Apr 21, 2012

Hi, welcome to my blog, the least-read section of Obesity Help. Sit down, get comfortable.

Stuck in a plateau the last few months but since I'm the same weight I was 40 years ago, I'm OK with it. What I'm focusing now is getting my leg, hip, and arm muscles in the best possible shape before my knee surgery this fall. My milestone this week is being able to do an armchair push-up: just using my arms, raising my butt completely off the chair. I would like to get to the point where I can support myself with my arms fully extended downward. That way, when I'm on crutches, I can avoid putting any weight at all on my other leg. Ideally, it would also involve having First Lady arms, but let's not get carried away here.

Still working on getting to the gym more often. I scheduled a fitness assessment so check my blood pressure, body fat percentage, etc. and then I'll ask for an exercise routine that incorporates the knee rehab I'll be doing. I'm hoping to make the rehab routine easier that much easier.

I told people that I was getting my VSG to avoid knee surgery, and I'm a little disappointed that didn't work, but at the risk of sounding shallow I LOVE being 80 lbs. leaner than a year ago. I found myself eyeing my new self in the full-length mirror yesterday. Wish I had someone else checking me out, but I'm slowly becoming reconciled to the idea that isn't going to happen. Better to be alone than with a lying, cheating POS.

This is very wrong

Dec 29, 2011

But I joke that the 75+ lbs. I lost in the last 6 months...I know where it went. Right to my ex's mid-section: http://www.flickr.com/photos/35025258@N00/6096674707/

E's pants

Dec 28, 2011

I don't know what I'd be doing for pants if it wasn't for E, who never gets rid of her clothes.

I borrowed several pairs of "size 20" pants back in August, and have strunk out of them. Also, E has lost some weight on her own, so she can fit in them again. So I returned them. I've borrowed several more jeans, noticeably smaller, but still size 20 on the labels. Clothing sizing is crazy...I've been wearing 18's and they were too big, so these 20's are more like 16's.

Anyway, I'm down 75 lbs. since my surgery 6 months ago, 116 lbs. in the last 3 years, 133 lbs. since my DH died almost 7 years ago. A friend took a picture of me holding her baby, and I did not recognize myself. And then all I saw was my bones and wrinkles in my face. I'm waiting for my mental picture to catch up.

Made it to 1-derland!

Weight this morning on the scale: 199.8. Looks better in real life than I envisioned it while doing my arm cycling.

Size 18 & flirting with One-derland

Oct 09, 2011

The size 20 jeans I borrowed from my BFF are a little loose but they still fit. I didn't know until I went to the thrift store that I was an 18 because they tag them with waist sizes and I didn't see the size 18 tags inside until I got them home.

About 10 days ago I got down to the weight I was when I started Weight Watchers in 1979: 212. (I would eventually get to 150, then didn't lose for several weeks, so I quit in frustration. Then I got pregnant, and it all came back.) For the past week I've been bouncing between 206.6 and 204.4, "gaining" a pound on one day, "losing" it the next. Same scale, and I'm completely naked on it, so it can't be from different clothes.

Still, the overall trend is downward, and I feel like I'm making progress. Guess I'll update in 5 lbs. or so!

OK, listen up!

Sep 08, 2011

You don't LOOSE weight--you LOSE weight. Which may cause things to become LOOSE. Loose means baggy. Lose means you cease to have something.

Your shoes have HEELS not HEALS. Heals is something you want a doctor to do.

Something belonging to it? Its. Not it's. That means it is.

Something belonging to you? Then it's YOURS. But it's not YOUR WELCOME, it's YOU'RE WELCOME. You are welcome.

Seriously, this is basic English, you make yourself look like a moron when you get it wrong.

Sometime this week...

Sep 05, 2011

I will weigh what I weighed in 1979. My aim is to run through all the weights that I weighed back in the 70s.

Size 20

Aug 13, 2011

Took three pairs of identical pants into the dressing room at Lame Giant: size 24, size 22, size 20.

24: baggy and loose, like the ones I was wearing.
22: fit better but the waist was still loose
20: tight in the thighs, but fit perfectly in the waist.

Woot! Twenty is the biggest size at Old Navy. I can shop in their stores instead of online!

Bleargh, a stall

Jul 11, 2011

18 lbs. in the first two weeks, 3 lbs. in the past week. I had been warned there'd be a stall at 3 weeks, I didn't think it'd arrive early.
