My health insurance UHC covers weight loss surgery,but you have to have had a BMI of 40 for the last 5 years. And in between one of those years my BMI dropped to 37 due to taking diet pills and I was denied. Thats why I choose to self pay and have the vertical sleeve gastrectomy in Mexico. I have narrowed the 2 surgeons down to Dr. Kelly and Dr. Garcia. I originally chose Dr. Kelly. But then changed my mind and chose Dr. Garcia. So I hope I made the right decission :) Time will tell. I have started my 2 week pre op diet. I have 2 protien shakes & 2 small basic green salads topped with 1 oz of chicken a day. I have lost 8 lbs as 2/12 and that is just 4 days out. I hope to weigh 240 by the time I have my surgery on 2/23. By getting the VSG I hope to eat healthier portions and make better food choices. I know I can acheive this by having VSG.
