Dr Shires was very caring, intelligent and very down to earth and factual. She took lots of time with me, had already looked at my medical records, sleep study and lab work my Doctor had sent over. She was extremely prepared and very direct with anything I asked about. (I had a ton of questions!) The one woman office manager, named Gail,is friendly and very profesional. I did not find anything I do not like about Dr Shires. I feel she is very capable and confident. Dr Shires has offered me choice of 2 different hospitals to go to, and she and Gail have set up all my other appts needed pre-op (physchologist, nutritonist, pulmonoligst).
Dr Shires completely went over risks and did not employ scare tactics- she just was very detailed and really explained to me what I am getting into.She is extremely candid and very through.

When Dr. Shires first came in to see me she was very serious and she was really straight forward wanted to make sure that I understood erverything that the surgery was major and that there could be complications. She told me that I had to be committed to taking Juice Plus vitamins, and committed to a B-12 shot every month. She was very concerned about my health and how I felt about everything that she told me. Her office assistant Gail was very nice and she made all of my pre-op appointments. I think the choose to go with Dr. Shires was the best one I have made.

I really like Dr. Shires. I worked with her when she was a Medical Resident at University Hospital. She was always pleasant to her patients and the nursing staff. I felt like she spent a lot of time answering my husband and my questions. There were a lot of them. I feel like I can trust her completely. Gail, who runs the office, is great to work with as well. She is very nice and never seemed to mind my calling to check on things. I only hope I didn't bug her too much.

So far, I would recommend Dr. Shires to anyone interested in having this procedure.

I was pleased with Dr Shires frankness, as well as her demeanor. I felt like she was really interested in what was best for me. She was very up front about the risks involved in this surgery. She has been performing WLS for over a year, in general surgery for over 8 years. Her office manager, Gail, is an absolute delight and was very helpful and supportive throughout the process.

Dr. Shires is very professional. She allowed me all the time I wanted and answered all of my questions.
