Obviously a competent surgeon. I didn't find
that he really wanted to take the time to
answer all my questions. I asked him if he had
a video of the surgery that I could watch, and
he said, "No, but I can show you pictures."
I thought, cool, at least he'll have some photos,
but all he did was pull out the brochure and
show me on the cartoon of the stomach that
is drawn there. It was a little insulting, but I
don't need him to be my best friend, I just
need him to do the best possible job with the
surgery.

Terry, his nurse, is just awesome. The best.

My first impression of Dr. Reinhold was that he really is a caring and compassionate doctor who has taken the time to study the effects that obesity has on the body. This is not just a money making surgery to him.

He takes the time to answer your questions and concerns and he has been doing this for 15 years. The monthly support groups he has are really good too and have been very helpful to me in making my decision to have the surgery.

Dr. R and his assistant Terry are great. They are ready to answer any questions you may have. I have emailed Dr. R directly and he has answered me.

I am very impressed with Dr. Reinhold because when I had to be re-scheduled due to illness, he called the hospital and had the put me in on a day that he normally doesnt do surgery because he knew he would be going out of town. If I waited, I probably wouldnt have been able to get in until almost May due to his busy schedule.

Dr. Reinhold saved my life. I found the doctor to be very knowledgeable, understanding and compassionate towards my obesity, but also expressing his professionalism in spelling out that if I didn't take care of the problem, that I was going to die "soon". His staff nurses, that include, Terry and Louise, are also very compassionate to my needs and did everything they could to make me feel comfortable while at the office. Any questions that I had were fully answered and more. The doctor laid it on the line that if I didn't do something quick that I would not last much longer. He explained the operation in great detail in laymans terms which made it very easy to understand the procedures that were about to take place. Again, I credit Dr. Reinhold and his staff for saving my life and giving me another chance to live. I would recommend him highly to anyone.

Before I had met Dr. Reinhold I had been to see anther surgeon in the New Haven area for another health issue. At that time it was decided that I required abdominal surgery on a parasophogial hernia. I brought up the issue of gastric bypass and she agreed that I would be a perfect candidate for it and told me that both surgeries could be completed at the same time. She then said to me "I want you to see Dr. Reinhold because he is THE LEADING authority in this field. I don't want any one else to touch you. Got that?!" Upon meeting him for the first time, I could see why she had such confidence in him. He's completely honest, but not hurtful. Confident, but not arrogant. I could feel he that he really wanted to help me and that he knew he could. I put my faith in God, and I am going to put my life in Dr. Reinhold's hands on 2/28/01.

Dr. Reinhold entered the room with confidence. I knew the second I met him, that he was skilled and he would be the person who helped me change my life. His assistant, Terry, is fabulous. Any time I had a question or a problem, she took care of it. The entire staff is pleasant and encouraging. What I liked least about him is also what I liked most, his confidence. Sometimes it intimidates me to ask a question or tell him something, but that is just something that I struggle with. If there is something I feel I can not tell him, I talk to Terry. He emphasizes aftercare, especially diet and excercise. He gives you a book to help guide you through the stages of your diet after your surgery. Overall, I would highly recommend him.

I liked the Dr. very much. He has a gentle
manner and was very thorough. His staff was
also very upbeat and professional. He answered
all my questions and was realistic about the
procedure in that it is an aid not a cure.
Dr. Reinhold is definitly booked up and the
wait is long. The procedure for approval is
structured and strict. I believe him to be a
physician anyone interested in this surgery
should visit

Dr. Reinhold was very nice and explained everything me. His staff was pleasant and my first experience was good. He was very reassuring and told me he was there to help. He gave me the information to make appointments and go to the support group and told me I would need to be seen by him again after I had those appointments. He greatly stressed that this was a life change that would effect not only me but my entire family and that family support was very important. The information sheet he gave me went over the routine of office visits that I would need to keep after the surgery and he was very frank about the risks associated with the surgery. Overall, Dr. Reinhold was very informative and kind. I got the feeling that he really wants to help obese people if they really want the help. He really made a point of stressing that commitment to the life change was the most important factor for success. I would have liked to had more time with him but seeing that he is the Chief of Surger at the hospital, I know he must see many patients. To a small degree I felt that he was willing to give only so much of his time until I complete the other appointments and I prove that I am serious and the other doctors I have to see confirm my seriousness with him.
