Richard Wienke Bariatric Surgeon M.D., F.A.C.S.

He was very professional. I like him alot! He was the only one in the group(Wish Center) that comes up and sees his patients everyday. He is wonderful. I would and have sent other people to him. the aftercare program is very structured with the wish center. He did discuss everything before and after surgery with me and my family. I would rate him a definite 10....... I f u are thinking of having the surgery done in IL I would definitely go to him

Like so many others here, I am also at the WISH center and have been assigned to Dr. Wienke.
He is an associate of Dr. Salvino's and just GREAT. We have really hit it off and I have so much
confidence in the whole team.

My first impression - very funny guy. He seems very personable. The staff at the consultation was friendly and professional. Since I have been researching this surgery for over 2 years there wasn't much he had to tell me...in fact he was impressed with what I knew about it!

Dr. Wienke is a very personable doctor - ready to answer questions or discuss whatever concerns I had about the surgery. The office staff was very kind and gentle and did not make me feel uncomfortable. Dr. Wienke and the staff are very concerned about pre- and post-surgery care and wanted to make sure that I was ready for this surgery mentally, physically and emotionally. Dr. Wienke was very diligent about explaining the possible risks involved and made sure I was aware of what would take place during surgery, post-surgery and once I was at home. I highly recommend Dr. Wienke, the other doctors at Good Samaratin and the staff at the WISH Center.

I liked Dr. Wienke immediately and found him very down to earth. He was extremely informative and natural. The office staff was very professional and helpful. They have a very good pre op program - giving me a diet, exercise plan, and vitamin regime to begin immediately. I have only met with the Dr. once, for my initial evaluation. My next scheduled appt is 10 days pre-op. At this appt. I am expected to bring my "support" person with me and the Dr. will go over all of the risks, aftercare, etc.

****Jan 4th - I had my consultation but it was Dr. Wienke since Dr. Salvino was busy. Everyone at the center including Dr. Wienke is great!!!

****I attended the seminar put on by the Wish Center on December 19, 2001. Dr. Rosen was the presenter and was very informative and had a good sense of humor. I have scheduled my consultation with Dr. Salvino on Jan 4, 2002. This will be the first time that I will get to meet him. As soon as I have my consultation I will give everyone an update!

Dr. Wienke did a very good job in explaining everything, answered every question. The Wish Center has a great staff, very friendly and helpful.

Dr. Wienke is the newest member of the surgical team at The Wish Center at Good Samaritan Hospital. The other doctors, Dr. Salvino and Dr. Rosen, have been doing this surgery for some time now. My first meeting with Dr. Wienke went very well. He has been a surgeon for about 20 years, and I just have a good feeling about him. I'll let you know more about him later.

The program is very comprehensive, which is why I chose this one. The team includes a nutritionist, a psychologist, an exercise coach and a surgeon. The preparation phase takes about 10 weeks, and during that time, you must take specific vitamin supplements, build up your heart strength, and practice the diet you will need to follow after surgery. In my area, this is a unique approach, but it certainly makes good sense.
