Okay, I have switched my surgeon. I met with Dr. Garber today (06/14/07) and he was fantastic. He answered my questions and allowed me the time I needed to make sure we covered everything. He also made it clear that if any questions come up, I can always contact them or email him directly.rnrnThey are organized and everything is laid out for you in an easy to understand manner. I look forward to this journey and the anxiety has dissipated.rnrnDr. Garber is a good surgeon and it is evident that he knows what he is doing. The technique he uses when stapling and sealing the connections was one of my big concerns. He explained it clearly and my mind is at ease. rnrnOh, just bring a novel to read as the wait is long, but well worth it. Also, do not be surprised if you run into someone from this website while you are sitting there. I felt like I was meeting celebrities, right off the pages of obesityhelp.com.

When I met Dr. Garber I immediatley felt very comfortable talking to him. I was very nervous about this surgery and he was just so confident . He really explained every detail to me making sure I understood what it was I was having done. His office staff was amazing I never had a problem with any of my paperwork. Dr. Garber has an awesome bedside manner. I feel this is very important because this was a scary time in my life and having a Dr. take such good care of me and reassure me that the outcome was going to be great .Hei s blessed with a gift not only surgical but he makes you feel like you are his only patient although he is extremly busy. i truly feel he changed my life in a way I thought no one or nothing could. I am so happy I have made this deciosn and that I chose the best surgeon for the job. When you do your research you wil find that Dr. Garber is the best in his field and that there is no comparison just read other patient comments. rnA++++++rnrnI would also like to comment on two amazing people Anna Stoessel the Bariatric coordinator at Mercy she is an unbelievable nurse she is so compasssionate. My first meeting with Dr. Garber went really well. I cried of course in his office when I began to tell my life story, and he was so compassionate and understanding. I normally have a good intuition about a person and respect first impressions and have walked away from situations in the past because of an uneasy and uncomfortable feeling. I did not get this with Dr. Garber. He knew what he was talking about, answered my questions and explained to me the steps I needed to take. On several occasions, me with all the questions, had emailed him. Within an hour or two he answered me back in detail. I had a great experience with his office staff. The girls seemed very helpful and concerned about my next step. From others, I've heard that they tend to be a bit pre-occupied, but I did not experience this. On serveral occasions, I called the office with a questions and they were always willing to answer them thoroughly. I did a thoroght background investigation on Dr. Garber and Holover through NY State Medical and they both have a flawless history. I can't seem to find anything negative of them. I'll let you know how I rate him after my surgery.......LOL!rnrn4/18/07 - Dr. Garber has been wonderful throughout my almost one year journey. His support group meetings are very helpful and he is always there to talk to directly. My experience has been overwhelming with nothing but good. He is a wonderful doctor. Dr. Garber changed my life both physically and emotionally. I am so happy I had this surgery, I wouldn't have it any other way! No regrets!

Dr. Holover made you feel very comfortable. He took the time to go over everthing in detail. I came there with a list of questions and by the time he was done with the consult I didn't even have to ask them because he covered them already. I'm switching to Dr. Garber. The only reason why is because I couldn't get an appointment for a while with Dr. Holiver.

I had a great experience with Dr. Garber. He was compassionate, responsive, respectful, and very professional.

I would highly recommend Dr. Garber to anyone considering Gastric Bypass surgery. Dr. garber was extremely informative and helpful from the first day I walked into his office. His staff is just as warm and caring as he is. Dr. Garber is an expert in his field and I am so happy he was recommended to me. I am now 2 years post op and Dr. Garber and his staff are still very involved in my medical care.

I had a great first impression of Dr. Garber. I know I'm in good hands. Dr. Holiver who works with Dr. Garber, did my endoscopy (which went off perfectly and with no discomfort), and he was also wonderful. They both seem to have very warm and compassionate bedside manner. Everyone in their office has been very helpful.

I had a very good first impression of Dr Garber My impression only got better over time Dr Garber helped me understand everything about my surgery and all my options.The office staff was very nice and helpful with my questions.The thing i liked least was how long it sometimes takes to see him.Future patients should know how long you sometimes wait in the office. They really stress aftercare the office has a great and structured aftercare program.Yes Dr Garber told me and showed me a book that listed all risks of the diffrent surgerys.I would rate him as very good .Both are very good.

Dr Garber and Dr Holover are two of the most professional surgeons, they are easy to talk with, both are patient with answering questions, and have a great bedside manner.

Dr Garber perfomed my surgery and Dr Holover assisted. Dr Garber was trained by Alan Wittgrove,the surgeon who originated this surgery,the same surgeon who did Carnie Wilson's surgery. Dr Garber from Day 1, was bottom line: this is what Aetna requires, explained the surgery and advised I can complete all the presurgical testing in my own time. He patiently answered my questions and gave me a booklet of all testing required and a 2 page referral list of physicians to conduct the tests. I also will say, that these same doctors, hold him and Dr Holover in high regard.

Dr Garber's staff is also very thorough, very knowledgeable of the process,and they KEEP TRACK of you, believe it or not. I have nothing but praise and superlatives for the NY Bariatric Group.

Dr Gaqrber referred me to Dr Genovese, a PCP and a Pulmonologist.I was impressed with his sincerity and caring atitude as we planned the WLS program. He is a great PCP and very understanding. He has been supportive ALL the way. I cried the first time we talked because he was so caring.

Dr Garber recommended Dr Genovese, to oversee my monthly weigh-ins, which is required by Aetna.I switched to Dr Genoves, at the first consult and I was never sorry about it. Dr Genovese is in Dr.Garber's suite of offices, and it was great & CONVENIENT, having them both together. Dr Genovese wrote my letter of clearance for surgery.I was approved within a week, and had been worried, because Aetna is notorious for denying claims. I now understand its because the patient didn't provide the correct information, OR the PCP did not write the letter correctly. SO KEEP THIS IN MIND as you move forward in your journey & GOOD LUCK!
