Denise Addorisio Dietitian / Nutritionist RD

Sept 2nd,05 met with Denise. She made my visit with her very relaxed. She went into details about all the good and bad of eating after the operation. Showed my husband and I how to used the program, and what I will need to buy. She also mentioned to try some of the items on the list she gave me,so that I can see how they taste. We also talked about many things in the way that I eat right now. And the many changes that will take place. I was very nervous about meeting with her, but I found her to be very nice and took the time to explain everything to me.

to be honest, i found her to be more than a bit patronizing, for which i have a low tolerance. i also found that, at least to ME, she seemed to use a universal, 'cookbook' approach, rather than an individual one.... i know that most people like her and find her useful, and i wish them and her well, however, she was very much less than useful as a resource for me....

My meeting with Denise was very informative. She explained to me what will happen after the surgery - to my appetite and also to my food choices. She described in detail all the changes that will happen in my stomach - and not just on the types of foods I can have, but the exact quantities. She didn't sugercoat anything, yet, I walked away with confidence that I will be fine. She also gave me a very comprehensive booklet that describes in more detail the Weight Loss Surgery Diet, a collaborative piece written by several people including the surgeon, Denise and many others that will take me through the first three months. Of course, I will have followup appointments with Denise every 3 weeks for the first three months, but that is something I will need - just to be sure I'm doing things right. I felt more confident in my own ability to get through this surgery after I spoke with Denise.
