My first impression of Dr Suggs was that he made me feel like I was important to him. He made me feel welcome and always made me feel like I could do the program. I still have the same impression of him - a kind, caring person. His office staff is high quality and very personable. The aftercare includes support groups which is very helpful to pre-op and post-op patients. He was very honest about the risks of surgery. I would give him a 10 out of 10 rating. Both his surgical competence and bedside manner are great. I would highly recommend Dr. Suggs to anyone who is considering the gastric bypass surgery.

I was so nervous when I met Dr. Mailapur the first time. I had heard so many wonderful things about him, to me, it was like meeting a celebrity. He and his staff were so thorough, from the beginning, with the information needed to make the decision to have weight loss surgery. A few minutes before my surgery, Dr. Mailapur asked if I had any questions he could answer for me. This was like the forth time he asked me this. How impressive!rnrnNow, six months after surgery, he still asks me the same question. I've never had any questions to ask because this is how wonderful Dr. Mailapur and his staff are in keeping the patients informed. rnrnDr. Mailapur did a wonderful job with my surgery, and I have no regrets, at all, about having my weight loss surgery. To put it simply, Dr. Mailapur is awesome!

Dr. Mailapur was a wonderful caring surgeon. Although he is strict and cautious it is for your own health benefit. He honestly cares about his patients. He explains all the risks involved, and also his aftercare program. He explains to you what he can do to help you, but, it is all up to you how you use the tool he gave you. rnrnHis bedside manner was just as good as his surgical competence. I did a lot of research before deciding on a surgeon. Future patients should know that Dr. Mailapur is a great surgeon, but expects you to do as he instructs you to. rnrnHis staff really works hard to get your surgery approved. It took 7 months for me to complete all insurance requirments. They helped with every aspect of the process. rnrnWhat I liked least about about Dr. Mailapur was all the requirments he expected from you.rnI had to lose 25 to 30 pounds, have a colonoscopy, mammagram, heart work up, psych evaluation, and nutition class. All of which were for my own benefit.rnrnI would highly recommend Dr. Mailapur. He is a very highly trained professtional, that wants to give patients their lives back.

Dr. Mailapur is a very caring surgeon. He says he has a passion for helping people change their lives and I believe him. The hospital staff and other doctors are very complimentary of him as a professional. He made me feel comfortable from day one. He is very adamant about the surgery being only a tool to assist in shedding the pounds. I have no question about what my role is in the process. Dr. Mailapur has the surgical competence and a great bedside manner. I couldn't have asked for better care. His office staff is very knowledgeable, especially Jessica. rnThe recommended support group through Huntsville Hospital is excellent!

On my first meeting with Dr. Mailapur at one of his required seminars, I instantly liked and trusted him. He was very upfront about the surgeries he offered including their risks and downsides. At my first in office meeting, he was very kind and understanding but also very adhement that he wanted this to work for me as much as I did. At all subsequent appointments, he has always shown interest in whether I was happy with my results and with him. And I am very happy with him. I am so glad that I chose him for my surgeon. He has treated me very well and has shown me that he is proud of what I accomplished. Dr. Mailapur is dedicated to ensuring that he has a long term relationship with his patients. I feel that his support gives me yet another reason to try so that I don't disappoint him. I highly recommend him to anyone considering weight loss surgery.

Dr. Mailapur was the second Dr. I met with to explore weight loss surgery. I did not have a good feeling about the first doctor. My immediate impression of Dr. Mailapur and his staff (at his excellent seminar) was that they were very professional and well organized. In my first one-on-one with the Dr he made it clear that he had strict requirements that had to be met, but he and his staff provided all the help and guidance needed to meet them. Dr. Mailapur is a very warm and caring person who clearly wants the best for his patients. He is an excellent surgeon. I've had no complications at all from my RNY even though I had existing scar tissue that he had to work around. This was partially because I've followed his guide book - which was given to me up front - but I believe it is mostly because he is such a good surgeon. I did not even need the pain pump in the hospital. He is a strong supporter of support groups, self-education, and exercise. I really cannot think of anything negative to say about Dr. Mailapur or his staff. I am so thankful that I found him.

When I first met Dr.Mailapur I was impressed with his demeanor and how he came across. He truly is a physician that cares about his patients and thier outcomes. Dr. Mailapur and his staff also impressed me by the educational side of the surgical procedure that I had chosen. He is very serious about what he does and wants to make sure that his patients fully understand the lifestyle changes that come with having a gastric bypass. The way he has got his bariatric care set-up is phenomenal. The nutritionists really understand the dietary needs of the gastric bypass patients and do an excellent job in helping them. Plus, the supports groups that are set-up really help those that are still struggling and those that just not sure about having the procedure. I have already reccommended Dr. Mailapur to at least 3 people and I will continue to do so. He is an excellent surgeon that truly cares about his patients.

Dr. Mailapur is easy to talk to and I liked him immediately. He tells you like it is and what he expects from the first visit. He is very personable and has a great bedside manner. Jessica, his nurse has been great and is very helpful throughout the whole process. Of all the doctors in the area, there is no one that can compare to Dr. Mailapur!

I have been overweight all my life it seems. I have been looking into the weight loss surgery for the eight to ten years. I would read any and everything I could about the process. I had checked into the surgery with a couple of other doctors. I didn't follow through due to the feeling that I got from the other doctors. I felt like it was only about the \"money\" and not the patient and making them comfortable. Not Dr. Mailapur. He was just the opposite of the other doctors. He did everything to make me feel comfortable. He listened to me and answered every question that I could possibly throw at him. He sat there and answering every question with patience. I feel like a new person since having my surgery in October. He is a special doctor. He treats each and every person that comes through his door as part of his family with open arms. I recommend him at each and every occassion. I would do this surgery again in a HEARTBEAT thanks to Dr. M. If it weren't for him I would still be waiting on my turn. Thank you Dr. M for being the specail person you are and making each and everyone of us feel special as well!!!!

I first met Dr. Mailapur when I went to his seminar about bariatric surgeries. I don't even remember how I found out about it, who told me about it or how I ended up there but somehow I was led to him. I do remember having such a nervous stomach for even thinking about going into the building. Once I got in there and started to hear him talk about the different procedures that nervous stomach went away and he had my total attention. From that very moment I knew he would be the doctor I would chose to do the surgery I always swore I would never have no matter what. Within 3 weeks I had my first consultation appointment with him and I really liked the fact that he took his time to talk with me and to explain the procedure in detail as well as answer any questions that I had. Over the course of the next several months I started the process of preparing for gastric bypass surgery. On the visit before my surgery he once again took the time to sit with me and explain everything and answer all of my questions and then he gave me a hug and re-assured me that everything would be ok. On the day of surgery Dr. Mailapur came into the pre-op room and talked with me and my husband and once again hugged me and shook my husband hand. I was no longer nervous about surgery because I knew I was in terrific hands. My surgery was successful with no problems after surgery. After surgery his care doesn't stop there, when i went back for my 2 week check-up he was still just as caring and took his time with me as he did before my sugery. Dr. Mailapur makes it a point to see that you are comfortable and his staff is very friendly and helpful in any way needed. I would highly recommend anyone that is considering this surgery to use Dr. Mailapur. He cares about his patients and wants to see them succeed by using the tool, not the solution, that he has given us. If there was a scale of 1 - 10 to rate our doctors and there staff I would definately give Dr. Mailapur and his staff a 10 +.
