Maryvale Hospital
Overall the wonderful nursing staff and my private room made my stay much more pleasant. One nurse out of 5 had to be sorted out, once he realized he wasn't God in my eyes or my familys', he never spoke to us again, which made the stay that much more pleasant.--I had life-Dr. Simpson is all jokes and has a bedside manner of Dr. Pierce on MASH, but truth be told, he's one of the best doctor's I've ever seen. When he needs to be serious, he tells it you straights, mentally holds your hand, and saves your life, and that's what he did for me! I love him and I think he's awesome! I think Maryvale Hospital is the luckiest hospital in all of Phoenix to have the the doctor's and nurses dedicated to their worked and the patients that pass through those particular doors.
I felt that some of the nurses could have been friendlier. I felt like they were there to do there job and that was it. I was very pleased with my pre- surgical nurse, Bettyshe was so warm and friendly and had a good sense of humor. My surgical nurse was a sweetie I can't remember her name, but she was swedish and spoke with an accent. Some of my paperwork got misplaced and I was not happy about that. On one of my papers in my room had the wrong first name on it. I'm glad I'm home.
Maryvale was great. I felt very comfortable there. I got there at 10am and I was home after surgery at 6pm. Very nice nurses, and caring staff. Would go back, only if needed of course.
Maryvale has a bad reputation but they have really done a lot to improve things in the past couple of years. I only had one snotty cna. Everyone else was exceptionally friendly and helpful. The only thing that would be better would be if they would put rocker recliners in the room like they have in the maternity ward. Be careful with the food. The kitchen brings you stuff that you aren't supposed to eat. I had a horrible roommate the first night so I asked to have my room changed and they put me in a private room which was great!!!
AWESOME NURSE: BRIDGETTE!!! I was able to arrive and leave during her shift, so I was spoiled & didn't have any other nurses, except the nurse at shift change on my way out who took out my IV, didn't wear gloves & blood got all over : (
He seemed very nervous! Great experience overall!
