Providence Hospital
The Aides were GREAT ! The nursing care SUCKED.
I DID NOT LIKE THE X-RAY STAFF, THEY WERE RUDE, ROUGH AND HAD NO SYMPATHY FOR THE PATIENTS JUST COMING OUT OF A MAJOR SURGERY
I have been in the hospital many times over the years. I have never seen a nursing staff as good as this one. The response to my needs was incredibly fast.
While I was in the ICU, I credit the nursing care at Providence for my life just as much as I do the doctors.
I would recommend The Providence, especially if Dr. Bill Lightfoot is your surgeon.
Great place to have surgery.
For the most part my stay was great. However, on one of the nights I had an aweful nurse. They were loud outside my door. When bringing me an antibiotic, not only was it not crushed well she had mixed it in ice cream. So chewed the pill to make it easier to swallow. Waste of time, the ice cream made me throw up. This is the same nurse who let my i.v. infiltrate. But other than that one night and one nurse, everything was excellent.
My 5 unexpected days in ICU were awful. I could not get my nurse to answer the call bell, and I was restrained to the bed and totally dependent. Once I moved to the 9th floor, had excellent nurses most of the time, who always responded and tried to help as much as possible. Flexible visiting hours were important to me. As far as pain meds go, I had an order written for some, but when I asked for it, several nurses told me I did NOT have an order for it, then another nurse said I did, and brought it to me. It was very confusingThe Nutrition staff was excellent, as was my case manager, Physical THerapist, and all Physicians.
Everyone I dealt with at Providence, from the pre op holding room untill I was discharged, was very friendly and helpful. I would choose Providence again.
I was in recovery for over 4 hours, and then was shipped up to the 8th floor (pediatrics), there wasn't a room available for anyone on the regular surgical floor. I had put in for a bariatric bed...but was given one that was nearly on it's death bed! And low and behold..NOONE knew what a bariatric bed was on that floor!
