Fred Hackney Plastic Surgeon

For some reason they signed me as Cheryl Gleason below... Dr. Hackney just did my medial thigh lift on 8/30/05. He was awesome and definitely a perfectionist...I have a T incision and they are very thin and will fade in time with some help from Vit E. Dr. Hackney is just awesome and i will be having him do my lower body lift and some lypo also in the future. Last week on 9/21/05 i noticed my thigh was really red and was hot to the touch and I called his nurse Crystel and told her abotu this...(btw every time i have called to talk to crystel she eagerly answers my questions or will get the answer) she called Dr. H and he told her to tell me to get to the ER asap at Presbyterian in dallas and he was already doing the pre-admitting to get me in quick. I had an infection in my thigh and was treated with IV anti-biotics. They ran tests took blood and there was Dr. H to answer my questions and make sure i was alright with everything. I saw him the next 2 days i was in teh hospital too. He is a excellent surgeon!!!

Dr. Hackney and his staff are wonderful. I had lost about 95lbs when I went to see him about a tummy tuck. I was going to have a hysterectomy and wanted to have a tummy tuck at the same time. My gynecologist recommended that I see Dr Hackney. I really had no idea what a tummy tuck involved, but since I had to be cut open for the hysterectomy, I figured why not do it all at once. The office staff is very kind and informative. Then I met Dr. Hackney. He totally explained the procedure and drew pictures to show me what was going to happen. Since I felt so comfortable with him, I decided to ask if he could do a breast reduction at the same time. I had breast cancer on my right side, then I breast fed my 2 kids from my left breast. This left me with a C-cup on my right and a DDD on my left. He explained how that procedure would be done. I decided right then that he was going to be my plastic surgeon and that I wanted him to do both procedures.
I had my surgery at the Margot Perot Center at Presby in Dallas. What a great place to have surgery. This was my 11th surgery and by far the best experience that I have had. I was in the hospital for 4 days. I have a 3 year old and a 4 year old, so I really needed to get a jump on recovery before going home. Dr. Hackney was in every day and really checked how I was doing. In my experience, most docs just come in and ask how you are doing, he actually checked the surgical sites to make sure they were fine. He did a wonderful job with the surgery. I am 6 months out, I am VERY happy with the results from both procedures. If I need to have other plastic surgery in the future, I would run straight to his office.
As far as how he treated me as an "obese" person, he was very sensitive to my needs and feelings. When I went for my consult I weighed 220lbs. He said nothing about my weight, and when I asked if I should lose more weight before I had the surgery, he looked me right in the eye and told me that I was one of the smaller patients he has seen for a tummy tuck. That made me feel very comfortable with him right from the start.
Also, he contacted my band surgeon to discuss the surgery, just to make sure there were no special concerns or issues with my band. That made me feel that he comes into his surgeries well prepared for anything that may come up.

Dr. Hackney was wonderful. He was extremely professional, but did not make you feel uncomfortable. His nurse was very friendly and kind and brought me a comfortable terry robe to put on after I removed my clothing for the exam. He explained each area he was examining and made me relax, as I am extremely uncomfortable about all of my loose skin. I lost 170 lbs. in 7 months and the skin just hangs especially my breast and abdomen. He was very frank about insurance approval and the difficulties that could be faced. I initially received an approval for my breasts and a denial for an abdominoplasty. However, Willie, his insurace specialist, filed an appeal on my behalf without prompting from me and the next thing I know I was fully approved. Willie even scheduled my surgery to fit around my work schedule so that I could sparingly use my days off work. They are wonderful. My pre0op visit is 11-22-04 and my surgery is scheduled for 12-14-2004. I'll post more later.
I'm now post-op recovering from a full abdominoplasty and breast reduction. Dr. Hackney appears to be a perfectionist, and I fell like he did an excellent job with my body. I liked that I had no stictches or staples. I was "super" glued together. The scars are very thin compared to what I seen in pictures when I researched the procedures. I think they will disappear completely in no time. They are hairline already and I'm just 3 weeks post op.
