I’M APPROVED!!!!!
Hi to anyone that is taking the time to read my profile. My name is Carol and I’m 37 years old. I have a wonderful husband of almost 14 years and 2 fantastic twin boys who are 16 months. My story is just like everyone else’s it seems. I have been over weight since I was 10 years old. I have been on numerous “diets” that have failed and brought me to my current weight of 260. I’m only 5’3 so that is a huge strain on this poor body. My favorite diet is Atkins so this surgery will be perfect for me. I love meat. I have done well with eating low carb, but of course once you go off of it all the weight comes back and then some extra.
I just found out a few days ago that my insurance has approved WLS. I have been going through the program since March. My longest hurdle was seeing the psychologist. I will make sure to mention that to my surgeons also. I was hoping to have my surgery sometime in July or first part of August, but it took me 2 months to see their psychologist. With me living a hour away from the clinic they didn’t give me any other choices. With having 16-month-old twin sons to take care of I was hoping to have it in the summer so we could hire a school kid to help out, well that didn’t work out. Now we made the decision to wait until Christmas when my husband has a whole week off and can take more vacation time to be home with them for the first 2 weeks. After that I will rely on my mom and my in-laws to lift the boys.
I haven’t heard from the doctors yet, but now that I’m approved it don’t matter really when they call me. I’m sure they will give me some slack on waiting until December, but they can blame it on the psychologist.
I had to go through the usual seeing the nutritionalist, dietician, having a sleep study done and my gallbladder ultrasound. I’m sure when my surgeons call they will set up my pre op testing at the hospital.
A great friend from town here had the surgery 9 months ago and has lost 84 lbs. She looks fabulous. Her and I have been going to the support meetings. We trade off each time driving. Her niece had the surgery a year ago, same age as me and pretty close to the same size and she is down 110 and still going. She was down 100 at 10 months. She looks fabulous. She almost afraid of losing too much. I sure hope I come to that problem.
More to come once I hear from the surgeons!!!!
