Hi...A quick update since I see that I haven't been on this site for over 4 years! Wow..time flies! Yesterday was 6 years since I had my surgery and my life has totally changed for many reasons. My initial loss was 100 pounds. I did not TOUCH anything with sugar in it for the entire first year. I must tell you that once I did...and it was a mindless act...I reached for something at someone's dinner table....I have been struggling with sugar again ever since! I kept that weight off for about 3 years and during that time I worked out regularly and also attended weekly support groups with my surgeon's practice.. In the third year my mother got sick and died. She was hospitalized for a lengthy time and I got out of my routine of exercising and meetings and spent a lot of time at the hospital. Since she died, I just have not gotten back on track. In the past year I relocated, have a new job and hope to begin all over. I maintain a loss of 60 pounds which for me is amazing. But I do feel the difference and would like to try to get back to where I was. I have not set foot into Lane Bryant for 6 y ears and that is a great feeling!!! I still feel the surgery was a wonderful tool. I forgot it didn't affect my brain and I got lazy. You cannot do that. Nothing about how I deal with food changed. Also, I can unfortunately, eat anything I want. The only thing that makes me ill is alcohol. I cannot have a drink anymore, but all the other goodies in life do not bother me at all. I do eat smaller quantities and am always mindful nowadays...but the working out I do think was the key. I hope that helps. Good luck to you.
