I came into this world too early--I was a preemie baby in the 80's so my lungs are crap and because of that I spent most of my young life sick and in hospitals.
I over came that only to be put on steroids to keep me alive and now have learned that's the major cause of my obesity. I am having VSG on 3/9/11 after so much thought and struggle to get it approved. It's taken a year and a half. I am however so thrilled to have this next chapter of my life opened to me and am ready to have a baby!
My main reason for doing the surgery is that my mom died when I was 18 and she was 53, she had 5 strokes due to high blood pressure and diabetes caused by obesity. I don't want to live like that and die like that either. I know in my heart that she didn't want to leave me when she did but I also know that I have the power to change it. So I am going to.
My husband has also decided to do VSG, his consultation is the same date as my post op appt. I can't wait for him to start his process too!
