Getting on top of carbs

Aug 28, 2017

I was away with my best friend and children or the weekend and had a fantastic time :)

My dietician has suggested keeping carbs below 150g a day. The only really said to concentrate on protein first here an don't give particular guidelines wish regards to grams. As soon as I started logging mine a couple of weeks ago it felt like I totally freaked out and was going way over them. I know there is still some concern that if I pay too much attention to numbers I'll start over restricting and stuff so I am trying to strike a healthy balance between monitoring and obsessing.

Anyway I handled restaurants and service station stops fine, researched my options in advance and came in both days well under my goal but didn't feel like I was missing out either. I'm also exploring lower carb protein bars to replace at least one of the two I tend to have a day. I'm starting to feel a bit more in control of everything in a healthy way :)

Hello!

I'm trying to find my way around so I'm not even sure anyone will see this!

I had my sleeve in May 2016 and have been an active member of a UK forum but I and a few others have got increasingly frustrated at the ever changing rules and not being 'allowed' to talk to friends made on the board off the board. Someone posted a video from the Obesity Help Conference though and I spent ages on YouTube watching lots of the talks and presentations and found them all so so useful so came and checked the site out.

Although I've lost 8 stone now I was just 4lbs off my goal of 10 stone and after a bad fall that's put me out of action for 3 weeks I'm now 10lbs away and I really want to get there. I need a hysterectomy but have negotiated that to happen next summer as I'm too busy with work and professional qualifications right now. I'm scared that when I have the surgery I'll put weight on while I'm laid up recovering for about 6 weeks and maybe afterwards too so it's more important than ever to me that I reach my goal and maybe even a couple of pounds under it to give me a cushion so to speak. I'm waiting for a surgery date for a much smaller procedure later this year too which will take me a week or two to recover from too so the sooner the better as far as I'm concerned.

Ok so I wrote some stuff in the about me hit of my profile and I've posted this so next is exploring the forums I guess. Typically I've set all this up and now I'm off on quality road trip for the weekend!

I made some great friends on the UK forum and I'm going to tell them about this place too. Having them to talk to has made a huge difference to my journey so far and I've made some fantastic real life friends too. I'm hopeful they'll be some great people here to get to know :)
